<itunes:subtitle>Three true Philadelphia Eagles fans tell it how it is.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>Three Philadelphia Eagles fans, season ticket holders past and present. We get together each week and talk about our favorite football team in typical midnight green and silver style. Each has our own perspective on being a fan.

Eric and Chuck live in South Jersey and have season tickets together, and Todd now lives in L.A. We talk about the normal ups and downs, being a fan wherever you are, traveling to games, tailgating, being at the Linc, being away, the players, the atmosphere, the coaches and, of course, that dream.</itunes:summary>

The Philadelphia Eagles roll into Atlanta and destroy a depleted Falcons team with the help of none other than Michael Vick, who scored his first two touchdowns of the season with the win. The Eagles also move into a tie for first place in the division after the New York Giants defeat the Dallas Cowboys. The Eagles do not have time to reflect as they will be driving up the New Jersey Turnpike this Sunday where they will take on the Giants for another extremely important game. We talk about all of this, handle a few emails and talk about where this Eagles team is at this point in the season.

What we discussed:

Eagles crush the Atlanta Falcons 34-7 in Atlanta

Michael Vick scores a touchdown both on the ground and through the air

Leonard Weaver made some amazing plays and is another Eagles weapon

Decent play all around from all sides of the ball this week

Email from Craig in upstate NY

We talk about some of the other NFL teams and how the season is turning out

Voicemail from...
EaglesFanCast 72 - Fourth Quarter Confidence

The Philadelphia Eagles post a second come from behind win in as
many weeks, defeating the Washington Redskins at home. This places the
Eagles with a 7-4 record, and hot in the race for the Wild Card.
Although we see flaws with the team and have serious concerns, we
explore the possibility of this team gelling and surging into the
playoffs. Now what happens when they get there is another story, but
anything can happen with this NFL it seems.

What we discussed:

The Eagles win over the Redskins and move to 7-4

Can the Eagles be starting to gel and make a serious run at the playoffs?

Eagles sign TE Brent Celek to a contract extension

The Eagles moved the ball against a good Redskins Defense

Asante Samuel making the picks, but still not the tackles, and that is ok with us

The New Orleans Saints and Drew Brees just look dominating

Email from Dr. Krug in Gettysburg

Email from Dennis in Gerrysburg

DeSean Jackson suffers a concussion in the game, and might not play against the Falcons

The Eagles activate WR Jordan Norwood from the practice squad today

A side story we expect to see more of as the week progresses is Michael Vickâs return to Atlanta

Chuck takes a vacation break, and weâre back after two weeks, and an
unfortunate two Eagles losses to the Dallas Cowboys and the San Diego
Chargers. We again try to figure out where the inconsistencies lie with
this team, and sort out the latest downswing and look at how the second
half of the season will play out.

What we discussed:

Eagles lose to the Dallas Cowboys at home 20-16

Eagles lose to the San Diego Chargers on the road 31-23

Eric feels that head coach Andy Reid should be gone

Inconsistency, injuries, penalties and coaching have contributed to an unsure season

Email from Jerry in Middletown, PA

Email from Aussie Steve

Email from Craig in upstate NY

Eric calling for Eagles to win out

Predictions for all of us say a definitive win over the Chicago Bears

EaglesFanCast 69 - A Giant Win

The Philadelphia Eagles bounce back from two disappointing showings
to trounce the New York Giants 40-17 at Lincoln Financial Field in
Philadelphia. The Eagles jumped out early, executed a very effective
Offense, harassed the Giants weapons, and never looked back as they
soared to the top of the NFC East. We break down what we saw, and
listen to other fans talk in emails and a voicemail.

What we discussed:

Eagles win by 23 over the Giants and move to the top of the NFC East

It was complete domination from the beginning of the game

The Offense ran the ball a lot more, despite not having RB Brian Westbrook in the lineup

Voicemail from Brian in Panama City, FL

Coaching, QB Donovan McNabb, playcallingâ everything was ready for this Giants team

The Dallas Cowboys are coming to town and it cannot be a bigger game at this point in the season

Email from Aussie Mike

Email from Alex

Are we a new team, or do we still have the remnants of the Raiders game to worry about?

Email from Dennis in Gettysburg, PA

We talk about Green Fans: the Movie which
will be coming out this month. Check it out at

EaglesFanCast 68 - Eagles Offensive Woes

The Philadelphia Eagles come off a win against the Washington ForeRedskins
27-17 on Monday Night Football, and we couldnât be moreâ apathetic.
The Eagles Offense was disappointing, and the team did not play up to
the caliber that we expected after the embarrassing loss to the Raiders
last week. What makes matters worse is RB Brian Westbrook went down
with a concussion and might miss the next game. Donovan McNabb was off
again, the wildcat has mange, and the Eagles next play NFC East
Division rivals, the New York Giants. If coach Andy Reid does not fix
what is wrong, and quick, then the remainder of the 2009 season is
going to be a very long one.

What we discussed:

Eagles win on Monday Night Football, 27-17 over the Washington Redskins

It was an unimpressive game except for a few standout plays

Brian Westbrook suffered a concussion in the game, and may not be able to play against the Giants

We talk DeSean Jacksonâs speed, Will Witherspoonâs play and Donovan McNabbâs troubles

Email from Evan

Todd calls a Loss for this game against the Giants

Email from Dennis in Gettysburg

Email from Dr. Krug

We chat about Michael Vick and where the âwildcatâ is with this team

EaglesFanCast 67 - Raiders Of The Lost Cause

The Philadelphia Eagles lose to the horrible Oakland Raiders in a
game that pretty much everyone thought was a lock for a Win. Almost
every aspect of the team contributed to the embarrassment, from
coaching, playcalling, tackling, passing, blocking and kicking. We try
to express some of what transpired since the game, what went wrong, and
our concerns for the future. Joining us this week is Cody Benjamin,
from the Eagles fan blog, Bleed Green.

What we discussed:

Cody from Bleed Green joins us, and we ask him about his site

Who is to blame for this horrible loss? It might be easier to say who is not

Andy Reid shoulders the blame for this lossâ no adjustments, and he was completely outcoached

Eagles trade with Rams at the deadline, picked up LB Will Witherspoon and sent them rookie WR Brandon Gibson

Donovan McNabb was under pressure all game, and he was too jumpy as a result

Stacy Andrews still looking tender, and may not be 100% for a while yet

email from Evan

email from Aussie Steve

email saying farewell to Trotter

email from Dr. Krug in Gettysburg

We are angry about this loss, and why?

We touch on what to be nervous about moving forward

EaglesFanCast 66 - Welcome Back McNabb

The Philadelphia Eagles take apart the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 33-14 in
Philadelphia this week. Quarterback Donovan McNabb returns from his
rib injury, Jeremiah Trotter returns to the team, and Jeremy Maclin has
a phenomenal game playing for the injured Kevin Curtis. The win wasnât
without some negativity, but the Offense put together a solid game and
helped Head Coach Andy Reid move to 11-0 after the BYE week.

What we discussed:

Eagles beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 33-14, but although satisfying, it wasnât fun to watch throughout

The game was frustrating because of the amount of penalties, poor officiating and just how bad Tampa Bay is

We talk about the play of McNabb, Westbrook, Maclin, Celek and more

Andy Reidâs rumored contract extension, and he is now 11-0 after the BYE

Email from Aussie Steve

Email from Alex

Steve from the UK put together 10 years of stats in a spreadsheet
and has been analyzing the hell out of it showing how much Eagles fans
love their football

We tried something new this week, as we incorporated a live chat
during the show recording. We wanted to get a live chat going so
people could interact and participate while we record. Then we
realized that it would make more sense if you could hear what we were
talking about. So we configured a channel over at ustream.
We tested it out, and it was a success, and we had a bunch of people in
the chat room checking out the scene and we only let people know a few
minutes beforehand! Awesome time, thanks to everyone who came and
visited.

Weâll be doing this each week when we record from now on since the live feedback was all positive. Bookmark our channel at http://ustream.tv/channel/EaglesFanCast, and register for an account, so you can join in the chat!

EaglesFanCast 64 - Welcome Back Trotter

The Philadelphia Eagles put together another impressive Offensive
effort in beating the Kansas City Chiefs 34-14. Granted it was the
Chiefs, but we were able to see a confident Kevin Kolb come out and run
the Offense and effectively move the ball and make very few mistakes.
It also marked the return of Michael Vick to the NFL where his role
this week was more of a decoy than the much-hyped wildcat offense has
led us to expect. Also big news today was the signing of former Eagle
linebacker Jeremiah Trotter, who left the team, lobbied to come back,
then was cut in 2007. This Eagles organization is anything but boring
since the Summer.

What we discussed:

Todd came to Philly and he gives his impressions of the updated tailgate

Eagles win big over the lousy Kansas City Chiefs

Kevin Kolb named NFC Player of the Week, and sets an NFL record for
the first Quarterback to ever throw for over 300 yards in each of his
first two starts

The young players stepped up and played great (McCoy, Kolb, Jackson)

Michael Vick makes his first regular season appearance since 2006

Eagles signed LB Jeremiah Trotter and released Jeff Garcia

What does the Trotter signing really mean to this Defense?

Email from Dan in England

Voicemail from "Cowboy" LOL

Email from Pat in PA, posing a very interesting scenario

Email from Dennis in Gettysburg, PA

Randall Cunningham (QB; 1985-1995) and Al Wistert (T; 1943-1951) both inducted into the Philadelphia Eagles Honor Roll at Halftime

Email from Holden

EaglesFanCast 63 - Kolb's Debut

This weekâs Philadelphia Eagles game was a big one. It was
quarterback Kevin Kolbâs debut as a starter, filling in for the injured
Donovan McNabb. It was the home opener. It was against a very tough
NFC opponent in the New Orleans Saints. Well the Eagles rebounded off
a great performance against the Panthers last week, and underachieved,
made mistakes, and took themselves out of a game. We chat about how
Kolb looked out there, what went wrong with the team to lose in such an
embarrassing way, the wildcat offense, and field some emails from
listeners that have concerns.

What we discussed:

Eagles lose to Saints 48-22

Kevin Kolb impressed, and we feel he finally earned his spot on the roster

Special Teams was just horrendous

Is Andy Reid losing control of the team?

The wildcat offense was used a lot in this game, is this the new Eagles Offense?

Brent Celek had a big game with 101 yards

Email from Dennis

Email from Holden

Email from Alex

We talk about the Kansas City Chiefs game this coming week

EaglesFanCast 62 - Panther Smackdown

The Philadelphia Eagles crush the Carolina Panthers 38-10 in a
bittersweet win as we also lose our quarterback Donovan McNabb to a
broken rib on a late touchdown run. The Eagles make a lot of moves
with some familiar names in the last day in response to McNabbâs
injury. Jeff Garcia returns to the Birds, Michael Vick is activated so
he can start practicing, and to make room, Guard Shawn Andrews is
placed on the IR and Wide Receiver Hank Baskett is cut. An overwhelming
news day, and we bring it all to you in typical Green style.

What we discussed:

Eagles rout the Panthers 38-10

New Defensive Coordinator Sean McDermott called a great game and
alleviated any concerns that he can lead this Defense through the year

Trent Cole looked amazing

McNabbâs injury play is debated

Quarterback Kevin Kolb didnât impress (again) and he now has the
opportunity of his young career this coming week against the New
Orleans Saints

Email from Dennis from Gettysburg, PA

Brian Westbrookâs option was not signed by the Eagles today, leaving him a free agent in 2010

Jeff Garcia in, Hank Baskett out, Shawn Andrews out and Michael Vick activated

Sheldon Brown had two interceptions in a great performance

We talk further about the Saints coming to down this week

The Eagles mercifully exit the preseason with a 1-3 record, and
enter the official 2009-2010 season traveling to the Carolina Panthers
this coming Sunday. This team seems to be a mystery to fans, yet
sports analysts see good things from them. We talk about the moves of
the last week, how things look going forward and talk about what fans
have written to us.

What we discussed:

The Eagles visit the Carolina Panthers to start the NFL season this Sunday

We talk about the roster cuts, signings and starters

Email from Dennis in Gettysburg, PA

Are Eagles fans just beaten down by their own expectations?

Email from Craig

Email from Dean in Birmingham, England

Other games around the league, or at least the NFC East

EaglesFanCast 60 - Preseason Continues

The Eagles win their first preseason game, and Michael Vick debuts
in Eagles green on the field. Most fans at The Linc give him a standing
ovation as he trotted out on the field and the stage is set for a very
interesting season. Itâs tough to watch and talk about the preseason
games, because you donât know what will make it to the regular season,
from players, to strategy, to expectations. Most of this weekâs show
focuses on Quarterbacks and Defense.

What we talked about:

Michael Vick debuts in Eagles Green

Fans hard on Donovan McNabb, as usual

Does a Brady or Favre, in Eagles Green, get the same treatment?

The team still looks sloppy

Will the âwildcatâ offense with Vick really work?

Email from Sgt Anthony, stationed in Iraq

Email from Evan

Email from Aussie Steve

Email from Dennis in Gettysburgh, PA

Eric and I had a good time talking with Robert and learned more
about this drama, his take on the characters, and how a New York sports
bar was transformed into a Philly sports bar. Listen in, and if you
go to see it, please let us know what you think!

debut for the Eagles after he plays in the preseason Jacksonville
Jaguars game in Philly. Since he and Donovan McNabb are slated to play
the first three quarters, we wonât have to wait for the regular season
to find out how Coach Andy Reid plans to utilize Vickâs talents in our
Offense.

general. Anger, confusion, shock, disgust and acceptance flooded the
print and online media. We share our thoughts, and a bunch of emails
that came in. Thank you everyone!

EaglesFanCast 57 - RIP Jim Johnson

We've taken a few months off, and it was a slow Eagles news time anyway, but we are back.

Unfortunately, we record this episode with heavy hearts, as
long-time Eagles Defensive Coordinator, Jim Johnson, passed away
today. He had been battling cancer for a while, and was 68. We will
never forget what he did for the players, coaches and fans of this
organization, and we wish his family all the best during this very hard
time.

The Philadelphia Eagles website has an amazing tribute to the best Defensive Coordinator the organization, and perhaps the NFL, has ever had.

What we talked about:

We remember Jim Johnson, who passed away today.

Sean McDermott, the new Eagles Defensive Coordinator named last week, is young and has to gain the respect of the players

WR Jeremy Maclin has not signed yet, but there are no worries

Training Camp talk: Brian Westbrook looks great, Stacy Andrews is a
monster, Shawn Andrews looks like his old self, and Donovan McNabb is
having fun

Eagles Flight Night is this Sunday - Chuck and Eric will be going, so say hi

We talk a little Phillies... we can't help it, it's a Philly thing

Email from Phil - he has the same thing most Eagles fans are feeling right now: is excited, but has reservations

One last thing, web aficionado and all-around good guy, Drew Olanoff,
was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago. Not one to sit back and do
nothing, he turned his passion for life and the web on the cancer
itself. If you are on twitter, chances are you have seen people blame Drew's cancer for many things in their own lives. Drew's created the "Blame Drew's Cancer" movement where he has partnered with Livestrong,
and hopes to get sponsors to donate a dollar for every time someone
blames Drew's cancer for something. If you're on twitter, go ahead.

EaglesFanCast 53 - Eagles Offseason Yawns

Wow the Philadelphia Eagles offseason seems long this year, doesnât
it? A bunch of heartfelt losses and nothing exciting on the signing
front (with no offense meant to Stacy Andrews or the others). The
Eagles did sign fullback Leonard Weaver, which fills a big hole on
Offense and definitely helps the running game on a few levels. Other
than that itâs been rumors, speculation and a few low-impact signings.
This show, our friend Jason from Bleeding Green Nation
stops in to chat with us about whatâs been going on with the Eagles for
the last few weeks. We also hit on various players and address a few
rumors about some big profile players.

What we discussed:

Eagles signings: FB Leonard Weaver, S Rashad Baker and S Sean Jones

Eagles still have a lot of holes to fill

The team is conservative with their money, but have gone out and spent big in the past

Email from Aussie Eagle re: the Eagles signing all of these players to one-year deals

Weaver is definitely the best acquisition so far this offseason

Eagles President Joe Banner talked with WIPâs Howard Eskin

Brian Dawkinsâ leadership role in Denver

Rumor prospects: Anquan Boldin and Braylon Edwards

Thanks to Todd, we get into a Donovan McNabb talk again

EaglesFanCast 52 - What's The Plan?

Free Agency has started, and so far the Eagles have lost an enormous
amount more than they have gained... at least that is the way it
appears to Eagles fans. Losing both Brian Dawkins and Correll
Buckhalter, as well as the eventual loss of Jon Runyan due to Stacy
Andrews' signing, has left fans with a very bad taste in our mouths.
It's painful to see 13-year veteran Dawkins go to another team, despite
knowing what a ridiculously-sweet deal they gave him. Plus we have
seen so many other teams be very aggressive in free agency, including
division rival New York Giants, and seemingly get better in the
process. We're left wondering what plans the Eagles organization has,
and how they plan to fill the many holes that this team now has.

What we discussed:

Free agency has started

We lost Dawkins, Buckhalter, Considine and soon LJ Smith and Tra Thomas

Lito Sheppard was traded

Brian Dawkins received an offer from Denver that the Eagles wouldn't even think about offering him

The new NFL is all about business, and fans' attachments to players hurts when they are inevitably traded or released

TJ Houshmandzadeh apparently asked for more money from the Eagles than other teams

Dennis from Gettysburg asks us about Boldin and Gonzales

Eagles sign Stacy Andrews, who does have a knee injury concern

Eagles rumors have involved a ton of wide receivers, but we have signed none

What is the Eagles plan?

The waiting game is tough

EaglesFanCast 51 - Offseason Begins

We are a couple of weeks past the Philadelphia Eagles loss to the
Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship, and the Super Bowl is over.
The offseason has begun, and hype has already started. Nothing major
has happened yet, but Bengals free agent wide receiver T.J.
Houshmandzadeh has been making the rounds marketing himself. He was
interviewed by 950 ESPNâs Mike Missanelli
on Wednesday, where T.J. told how he would like to catch for McNabb,
admires Andy Reidâs playcalling, and says Eagles fans are too
critical. We have all that, plus touch on our offseason needs, some
more disappointment in how the season ended and more great emails from
listeners.

What we discussed:

Three players added to the roster: DT Amon Gordon, LB Charleston Hughes and S Byron Parker

Eagles QB Coach Pat Shurmer leaves, and there are other minor coaching moves

Super Bowl talk - plain and simple, the Steelers had a lot of time left on the clock, because of their QB

We touch a bit, again, on McNabb as a clutch quarterback

Email from Aussie Mike

Email from Ben in Chicago

Defense talk as well as champion quarterbacks

950 ESPN radioâs Mike Missanelli interviewed Bengals wide receiver, and free agent, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who talks about wanting to play in Philadelphia. Here is the link for the full interview.

Mike and his crew also created a Facebook group called âWe Want T.J.!â The direct link is here if you want to join.

Our needs that need to be addressed this offseason are at the Offensive Line, tailback, tackle, safety and fullback

Email from Mitch comparing the the disappointments of the four NFC Championship losses on his blog

Email from Vince in West Philly

A listener, Holden, created a group on Facebook called âDisplaced

use this direct link and join up. Great job, Holden!

You can also find the EaglesFanCast Facebook fan page by searching there or clicking on this link

Weâre even on MySpace right here

EaglesFanCast 50 - Heartbreak

The Philadelphia Eagles come up short in a big way and lose to the
Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship. After a dismal first half
where the Cardinals put up 24 points to the Eagles six, they fight
back, scoring 19 unanswered points in the second half and actually take
the lead in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately that appeared to be all
that was left in the tank, and Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner led
his team down the field and scored a touchdown and added a two-point
conversion to lead 32-25 with just under three minutes to go. The
Eagles Offense sputtered and died on the Cardinals side of the field,
as well as their chances at another Super Bowl shot.

What we discussed:

Eagles lose the NFC Championship game, and are now 1-4 in that game under Andy Reid

Chuck calls for Reid to leave

Eric calls out Donovan McNabb and Brian Dawkins for having horrendous games

Todd, like all of us, is heartbroken, calls McNabb a great player, but heâs not a champion

All aspects of the team were flat in the first half

Kicker David Akers was off with a missed field goal, missed extra point and a kickoff out of bounds

The Defense tackling game was one of the worst we have seen this season

Email from Alex (first of two halves from Alex)

Email from Hollis

Thanks to Aussie Mike for the AFL official football he sent us!

Thanks to Nidice for letting us use his song, Eagles Game Face â08 last week

Email from Dennis

Email from Philip

Email from Aussie Steve

Eric and Chuck were interviewed by Rebecca Roberts from NPR at McGillinâs Olde Ale House in Center City Philadelphia. It aired this past Saturday evening on the show All Things Considered. You can hear it at this link. On the right side, scroll down to âSports - Eagles Fan Explains Reputation for Pessimismâ.

EaglesFanCast 48 - Viking Stomp

The Philadelphia Eagles defeat the Minnesota Vikings in the opening
weekend of the playoffs, 26-14. Our Eagles traveled to the Metrodome
for the NFC Wild Card game on Sunday and handled Adrian Peterson, the
Vikings Defense, and the very loud dome fans, emerging victorious. Next
up, the Eagles head up the New Jersey Turnpike this Sunday to face
their NFC East Division rivals, and defending Super Bowl Champions, New
York Giants. We lay it all out there with how the surging Eagles team
needs to handle the struggling Giants at the Meadowlands in front of
another hostile crowd. Besides the team, we also hit on golf trips,
playoff beards, and more Aussie enthusiasm.

What we discussed:

Eagles take out the Minnesota Vikings with the help of the whole team

How all three of us watched the game, and how we felt during it

We talk about L. J. Smith and Brent Celek

Eric talks about his trip to Myrtle Beach and he left us a few voicemails

Email from Travis in Denver talking Eagles excitement and how he canât stand Fox Sportsâ Joe Buck

We talk about the iconic Merrill Reese

The coverage on the Eagles for the Giants game is starting to ramp
up, and thereâs a lot of talk comparing them to last yearâs Giants team

Our plans for watching the game this Sunday

The Giants have been struggling and we discuss the whyâs

Email from Dennis in Gettysburg, PA who isnât as sure about this Giants game as he was for the Vikings

The Eagles have to control the ball and keep the Giants Offense off the field

Email from Stephen in Australia, renamed AussieSteve!

EaglesFanCast 47 - A Christmas Miracle

Show Notes: Episode 47 for December 30th, 2008

Playoffs!?!?
Thatâs right, the Philadelphia Eagles clinched the last NFC Wildcard
spot by defeating, nay, crushing the Dallas Cowboys 44-6 at Lincoln
Financial Field. In front of a frenzied crowd in South Philly, the
Eagles took care of things in dominating fashion on both sides of the
ball. Our Offense played tight, and our Defense caused five turnovers,
two of which were returned for spectacular touchdowns. They didnât let
the Cowboys breathe the whole game, and embarrassed the team that most
thought would easily take the NFC East this season. Instead the Cowboys
flew back to Texas, and the Eagles are on their way to Minnesota to
take on the Vikings in the NFC Wildcard Game.

What we discussed:

Eagles are in the Playoffs!

Eric and Chuck sold their tickets to the game, and feel like idiots

Andy Reid looked relaxed, happy and definitely appeared he knew something the Cowboys didnât

Brian Dawkins was an animal and played out of his mind

Email from Alex, who called us out on last weekâs show

Is it hard for teams to now prepare for our schizophrenic Offensive Scheme this season?

Andy Reidâs game plan definitely dictates the outcome of the game;
if itâs good, the team is great, if bad, he canât adjust and the team
looks horrible

We were all big Oakland Raiders fans this week

Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell talked about the tie against
Cincinnati and how Reidâs controversial call in that game actually
saved our playoff hopes

Email from Aussie Eagle, who talks about how this game saved Reid for the team, which ultimately heâs not happy about

Eric is certain about the Eagles victory in Minnesota this week

We trash the Cowboys some more

Email from Phil in England, who praises the Eagles win, and wonders which team will show up against the Vikings

Email from Corey in Baltimore, with renewed enthusiasm

Aussie Mike writes in about the game, and us visiting Australia, which we would love to do

What we are doing this week for the Eagles-Vikings game

Great email from Thomas in El Paso, Texas

Email from Stephen in Melbourne, Australia who talks about the Sav
Rocca Effect for Aussie Eagles fans, and Reidâs hopeful New Yearâs
Resolution: RUN THE BALL

Email from Jimmy Craichead in Philly, who found his youthful optimism and put Scrooge to sleep

An article on Monday by Minneapolis CBS Affiliate WCCO talked about
how there were 20,000 seats still available for the Eagles-Vikings
game, and the team is srambling to sell tickets so it is not locally
blocked outâ itâs unbelievable to us

Jerry Jones says Wade Philips is still the coach moving forward,
and we wholeheartedly applaud his decision, and hope Wade stays for
years to come

Thanks!

â to Thomas in Texas for this weekâs Title suggestion

â to Fred for the customized new Cowboys Stadium paver image (anyone want to chip in?)

â to all of you for making all of this worth it. Hereâs to a great 2009, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

EaglesFanCast 46 - The Blame Game

Show Notes: Episode 46 for December 23rd, 2008

The
Philadelphia Eagles lose to the Washington Redskins 10-3. Despite the
Playoff hopes increasing dramatically in a few of the other NFL games,
this loss essentially knocks the Eagles out of contention. The Eagles
Offense failed to score a touchdown on a horrible outing plagued with
inaccurate passing, dropped balls, unbalanced play calling and poor
clock management. After seeing three impressive wins, the Eagles fans
have now turned against Head Coach Andy Reid with renewed vigor, and
concensus is that his tenure in Philadelphia should come to an end.

What we discussed:

The Eagles loss to the Redskins is especially painful after two
gifts in other games (Cowboys loss to Baltimore and the Buccaneers loss
to the Chargers)

The blame game is back in full effect after that horrendous display on Offense

Some blame Donovan McNabb for his bad passing but most blame Andy Reid

Email from Holden in Louisiana blaming Reid

Email from Mitch in San Francisco with even more Reid impatience

What scenarios have to happen for the Eagles to make it into the playoffs

Email from Jason, talking clock management, Desean Jackson drops and play calling woes

We touch on the heartache of what this team has done

Email from Buz in South Jersey, who talks about many questions of âWhy?â

Third down yardage contributed to the Offense struggles again this week

Voicemail from Jimmy Craichead in Philly, talking about how Reid must go and how far back his Philly team woes go

Email from Stephen in Melbourne, Australia

EaglesFanCast 45 - Take Care Of Business

Show Notes: Episode 45 for Tuesday, December 16, 2008

The
Philadelphia Eagles win their third game in a row, defeating the
Cleveland Browns 30-10 in Philadelphia on Monday Night Football. With
the warm December temperatures and late rains moving in, the Eagles
finished off with Kevin Kolb at quarterback, but for a different reason
this time. Donovan McNabb had 290 yards passing and two touchdowns,
and Coach Andy Reid decided to protect his starting QB. Despite some
mishaps in the game, the Eagles looked solid and defeated the
struggling Browns like they should have. Now with two games left in
the season and a playoff spot on the line, the Eagles need to win their
last two games of the season against the Washington Redskins and the
Dallas Cowboys. Besides that, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or the Atlanta
Falcons have to lose a game. The momentum is definitely on the green
side, as the team has gelled into an efficient Offense and dominating
Defense. Our playoffs have already arrived in Philadelphia.

What we discussed:

Monday Night Football at Lincoln Financial Field

Some Fantasy Football talk as both Eric and Todd are in their respective playoffs

Brian Dawkins sets a franchise record with 181 games playedâ we so wished he had made an interception to set that record as well

The Browns coaches seemed to try to keep their QB Dorsey from passing the ball

Both Brian Dawkins and Asante Samuel have made it to the Pro Bowl

We have an email from Aussie Mike

We go into the last two weeks of the season, and talk about what
the Eagles need to do, and what other teams need to do for us to hit
that playoff spot

Voicemail from Paul out of Caffination

Stewart Bradley is definitely impressing us this season

The Andy Reid controversy continues

Eric feels the Cowboys game might be moved up to at least a 4:00 game with how much weight it may have

Kolb as the new franchise, or bust? We briefly touch on it

EaglesFanCast 44 - The Westbrook Show

Show Notes: Episode 44 for Tuesday, December 9, 2008

The
Philadelphia Eagles march up the New Jersey Turnpike, then Brian
Westbrook marches all over the New York Giants. The men in Green take
their new confidence and beat the Giants 20-14 in a game where our
running game ruled and Eli Manningâs passes were dropped. Despite the
win, we try to find optimism as this was the Eagles dominant team that
should be in the playoffs, not struggling (and hoping) to make a
Wildcard spot.

What we discussed:

Brian Westbrook lit up the Giants, again, with 203 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns

B West looked amazing and Eric has a lt of stats to back it

We arenât as excited as we normally should be, and we discuss why

The confidence in Andy Reid still is not there, as weâre not sure how he will handle the game plans for the remaining games

Email from Alex, who was psyched about the Eagles big win over the Giants

Email from Steve, who caught the game at the airport

There were three blocked Field Goals in this game, one returned for a Giants TD

Contest Winners announced for the DirecTV Eagles-branded remote controlsâ congrats to both Dave from California and Steve from San Francisco!!

We talked about the Plaxico Burress effect on the Giants team, or was there one?

Early Eagles playoff scenarios

The talk shifts to the Dallas Cowboys, and their impending demise

EaglesFanCast 43 - A Glimmer Of Hope

We found out about this after we recorded our show, but we want to
send out big congratulations to Donovan McNabb and his wife Racquel on
the birth of their twins, a boy and a girl. This news comes thanks to Bleeding Green Nation. All our best goes out to Donovan and his family.

Show Notes: Episode 43 for Tuesday, December 2, 2008

We have a really good show this week as we enjoy leftover turkey and
a great Eagles win in Philly over the Arizona Cardinals. The Offense
lit up the night at Lincoln Financial Field to the massive cheers of
all in attendance. Andy Reid went against his own game plans of late
and went for a balanced Offense attack. Our QB Donovan McNabb, as well
as RB Brian Westbrook, looked great and controlled their drives the
whole game and totaled six touchdowns. The Defense also continued to
do very well. In all, despite recent games, there were very few
negatives taken away from this game. Also on this show, we talk to
author Jeff Fekete, an Eagles fan whoâs book titled Making the Big Game - Tales of an Accidental Spectator will be coming out next month. Weâre also having a contest where we are giving away two Eagles logo DirecTV remote controls!

What we discussed:

Philadelphia Eagles beat the Arizona Cardinals at The Linc 48-20

The balanced Offense looked amazing, relaxed and efficient

Max Jean-Gilles fractured his ankle and is now out for the season, and rehabilitation could take up to nine months

Brian Dawkins had an interception which tied the franchise recordâ can you say âHall of Fame?â

Email from Susan, who was happy she was wrong about Reid and McNabb

Eric and Chuck talk to Jeff Fekete about his upcoming book, Making the Big Game

Contest announcement for a DirecTV Eagles remote control, details on our main site

We talk about the New York Giants game this Sunday

Giants WR Plaxico Burress shoots himself in the leg, is suspended by the Giants, and might go to jail

EaglesFanCast 42 - Dark Times

Show Notes: Episode 42 for Tuesday, November 25, 2008

The
Philadelphia Eagles lose in bad fashion to the Baltimore Ravens, 36-7
in Baltimore. The only Eagles touchdown came on a kickoff return by
Quintin Demps, going 100 yards. Quarterback Donovan McNabb continued to
struggle and turned the ball over three times and was inaccurate again,
going 8 for 18 for 59 yards at the Half. In a controversial move in
both decision and execution, Head Coach Andy Reid benched McNabb and
put in 2nd year QB Kevin Kolb. Kolb also struggled against a stellar
secondary and threw two interceptions of his own. On the day, the
Eagles quarterbacks had a combined 12.5 Quarterback Rating. Again the
focus after the game was Andy Reidâs coaching, preparation and play
calling, and it has reached a fevered pitch among Eagles fans. Most are
calling for a change in the organization, either in quarterback or
coach, some want both. We try to make sense of things, discuss what is
going on, and our listeners weigh in on the issues this week.

What we discussed:

Email from Mitch in San Francisco

We address McNabbâs confidence level and how he has been talking to the media

Email from Holden in Louisiana

Email from Phil in England

Why did the Eagles go long again on 3rd and short yardage? How is
this making sense to Reid at this point, when it has not been working,
and anticipated by Defenses?

Bad coaching decisions yet again, just awful

Did Lurie make the call on benching McNabb? Was it Reid? In either truth, both are out of character for the respective people

Email from Alistair in Australia

In a blog comment, Susan calls out the players and the coaches, both todayâs and in the past

Reid, McNabb, Reid, McNabbâ we just go back and forth about the mess we witnessed this week

Eric and Todd both feel that Reid is done with McNabb for the
season, despite McNabbâs call to start against the Arizona Cardinals on
Thanksgiving

Eric calls for the win against Arizona in big fashion, 38-17

Share with us, and weâll promise nothing:

EaglesFanCast 41 - Predictability

Show Notes: Episode 41 for Tuesday, November 18, 2008

The hapless Philadelphia Eagles lose to tie the
Cincinnati Bengals on the road. We start off raging against Andy Reid,
and manage to keep that same tone towards him through the whole show.
We also are amazed at McNabbâs lack of knowledge of the gameâs rules,
and simply cannot understand how this team with so much talent can now
be in this situation with a coach who seems to have lost his ability.
Itâs a rough show, but as this show is by Eagles fans, what else can we
do but be honest? It is about this team, and itâs hurting right now.

What we discussed:

Eagles tie the Cincinnati Bengals 13-13, and this is as bad as any loss

The team had no energy at all on Offense

There were 58 passing attempts, and 15 rushing attemptsâ when your
quarterback was again struggling and eventually turned it over four
times

A post over on Bleeding Green Nation talks stats about the unbalanced play calling in the last two weeks against the Giants and the Bengals

Eric talks about how Bengals cornerback Johnathan Joseph talks about how predictable the Eagles Offense has become, and he was ready for it

Andy Reid has become predictable and continues to show his inability to adjust

We have an angry email from Chris Brown railing against Reid and this Offense

McNabbâs comments following the game were ludicrous, especially with not knowing the rules of the game he has played for so long

We get a âtiredâ email from Aussie Mike

We have an email from Holden Fulco with his reaction to the Giants game, yet the same comments apply eerily to this Bengals game

We talk about how the Reid - McNabb team is now 4-14 in the
Division since the Super Bowl (thanks to Hollis for this in the
comments section from last weekâs post)

EaglesFanCast 40 - Anything Can Happen

Show Notes: Episode 40 for Wednesday, November 12, 2008

The Philadelphia Eagles lose to the New York Giants 36-31 at home.
The Lincoln Financial Field crowd was stunned after a series of
missteps, predominantly from the coaching staff, cost them the game. A
lot of questions have arisen in this latest loss to yet another NFC
East Division rival. Confidence in the coaching has been lost, and the
fans wonder what can change when your Executive VP of Football
Operations and Head Coach are the same person. At just over the
halfway point for the season, and with the Division being so tough,
hopes are already starting to wane for our playoff chances.

What we discussed:

We talk about the Giants game, and some of the frustrations

Giants ran all over the Eagles, and we couldnât stop them

The Eagles running was flacid, and it appears that Brian Westbrook is not 100%

Donovan McNabb was tired at the end of the game, and we wonder how this can still be happening

Andy Reid cost them this game; his play-calling, lack of
adjustment, and what we feel may be stubbornness, has now made this
team mediocre

âCaffinationâ
(Paul) on twitter made a great comment that he wants a âGruden factorâ,
meaning Dungy built the team and Gruden won the Super Bowl

We find it hard to find a positive from the game, other than Chris Gocongâs huge hit on Brandon Jacobs

A poll on Bleeding Green Nation shows that Andy Reidâs approval rating is 19%

Playoff-wise, this team is in a very deep hole nowâ losing three Division games

We go over the remaining schedule for the Eagles, Giants, and Cowboys, and look at a few other NFC teams

DirecTV is searching for the ultimate displaced fan.
The winner goes to Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa. Most of our out-of-town
listeners (sorry, AussieMike) are eligible for the contest, and we want
one of you to win it! It ends November 30th.

EaglesFanCast 39 - Big Week

Show Notes: Episode 39 for Wednesday, November 5, 2008

The Philadelphia Eagles get off to a slow start against the Seattle
Seahawks this week, but regroup in a huge way ultimately defeating the
Seahawks 26-7. McNabb struggled early then went on a 20 for 21 streak
and ultimately wound up with 349 passing yards and two TDâs. Those
went to returning Receiver Reggie Brown and Offensive Lineman Todd
Herremans (WHAT!?). The Eagles Defense also stifled the hapless
Seahawks Offense after the 1st Quarter, 90-yard play and made them punt
eleven times. This coming week the Eagles welcome the New York Giants
to town for a Sunday night NFC East street fight at a very unwelcoming
Lincoln Financial Field.

What we discussed:

The Philadelphia Phillies win the World Series, and throw the biggest parade in the cityâs history.

Chuck and Eric went to the Phillies parade and talk about their experiences

Donovan McNabb was horrible in the first quarter of the game

Andy Reid refused, again, to deviate from hist scripted plays, and
thus didnât help McNabbâs rusty play by running the ball early

Brent Celek has a breakout game because L.J. Smith was out hurt. Smith has been named the starter for the Giants game

Trick play to Todd Herremans for a receiving touchdown

David Akers hit four field goals to finish out the scoring in the
third and fourth quarters, and it definitely looked like Akers regained
his confidence

We have an email from Aussie Mike

The New York Giants come to Philly Sunday night

The fans have to be loud for this game

The Offense has to be fast, because the Giants will do everything to get to McNabb. Discipline in play and coaching is needed

Lito Sheppard did not practice today (Wednesday), so he is most likely out for the Giants game

After the Phillies championship, we think the Philadelphia fans will expect even more from the Eagles

EaglesFanCast 38 - The Westbrook Theorem

Show Notes: Episode 38 for Tuesday, October 28, 2008

The Philadelphia Eagles defeat the Atlanta Falcons in Philadelphia,
27-14. The team welcomes back Brian Westbrook and Kevin Curtis from
injuries, with this being Curtisâs first game of the season. With this
back to back win, the Eagles are now 4-3 on the season, and also 10-0
after a BYE week under Head Coach Andy Reid.

What we discussed:

Is Philly cursed? We start off talking about the Philadelphia
Phillies in the World Series, and how Game 5 is suspended because of
two days of bad weather

Donovan McNabbâs play early was bad, but he relaxed and excelled the rest of the game

Brian Westbrook was a rushing machine, and had 22 rushes. We talk
about the stat that says when he touches the ball over 20 times, the
Eagles donât lose

Jagged play by the Offense. Was it rust by players coming off injuries, or the play calling?

The Eagles are 4-3 on the season, but weâre still not satisfied

The game Referees were horrendous yet again, and it seems to be the case this whole season

Lito Sheppard stepped up this game, and made his presence known in a few ways

The Eagles travel to Seattle this Sunday to take on the troubled Seahawks

L.J. Smith was almost killed by Lawyer Malloy

Reggie Brown was out again this week, despite practicing during the week

Show Notes: Episode 37 for Tuesday, October 21, 2008

Our Philadelphia Eagles have a much-needed BYE week, but weâre not
taking off. In fact, weâre stepping it up a notch, as we have Jason
from Bleeding Green Nation with us to talk about all things Eagles this
season.

EaglesFanCast 36 - Back In It

Show Notes: Episode 36 for Tuesday, October 14, 2008

The Philadelphia Eagles beat the San Francisco 49ers in a 4th
Quarter Defensive victory on Sunday at Candlestick Park in San
Francisco. Despite the Eagles moving the football effectively for
three quarters, there was never a time when the game was well in hand.
A blocked field goal returned for a TD left the Eagles with a 1-point
lead going into the half, and the Eagles struggled for the entire third
Quarter before dominating and putting it away late in the fourth. With
the Eagles win, and losses by the Giants, Cowboys and Redskins, the
Eagles are back in the race as they go into their BYE week.

What we discussed:

The Philadelphia Eagles beat the San Francisco 49ers 40-26 a must-win Away game

We debate the play of the team and coaches during the game and try
to make some sense of how effective the team handled their opponent

The Eagles signed LB Tracy White and cut RB Tony Hunt

The Detroit Lions traded WR Roy Williams to the Dallas Cowboys

Cowboys CB Adam âPacmanâ Jones was suspended four games, possibly
indefinitely, after his latest off the field shenanigansâ the world
feigns surprise

We talk about Cowboysâ owner Jerry Jones and his comments on ESPN about the âagingâ Terrell Owensâ and the world snickers knowingly

The Cowboys have lost five players since Sunday, including their QB, Tony Romo

NFC East Division outlook and standings

Todd talks about attending the Phillies - Dodgers NLCS Game 4 in L.A.

Andy Reidâs 3rd & Long playcalling scares us because he has no plan

We have an email from Aussie Mike

The site, OneCrazyFan.com is now embedding our shows on his tailgate recap pages, very cool!

Next week on our BYE week show, we welcome back Jason from Bleeding Green Nation.
Jason joined us in the BYE week last year, and weâre very happy to have

Show Notes: Episode 35 for Thursday, October 7, 2008

The Philadelphia Eagles self-destructed in another game they should
have won. This past Sunday, the Eagles lost at home to the Washington
Redskins after opening up a 14-0 lead. Now the team is 2-3, lost two
games in the division and three games in the conference. We address
the loss with a lot of expected frustration and anger, and hope this
team, and the coaches, can make the changes necessary to put the Eagles
back on top where they should be.

What we discussed:

The Philadelphia Eagles lose to the Redskins 23-17 at The Linc

The first Offensive drive and the punt return were amazing, but that's where the fun ended

Brian Westbrook fractured two ribs, and is now considered day-to-day

Andy Reid's lack of adjustments cost them this game

The Redskins adjusted constantly and were able to counter everything the Eagles tried

Akers misses another field goal

Zorn outcoached Reid

NFC East Division outlook

The Eagles go to San Francisco to play the 49ers in a game we must win

We have a voicemail from IconJohn

We switch gears and talk about the Phillies for a bit

Show Notes: Episode 33 for Tuesday, September 23, 2008

The Philadelphia Eagles took on the Pittsburgh Steelers
at Lincoln Financial Field and smother the Steeler Offense for a 15-6
victory. The Eagles Defense was the side to step up big this game,
swarming the confused Steeler quarterbacks and getting nine sacks in
the process. Our Eagles are now 2-1 and are playing at a very high
level as they travel up to the Windy City to take on the Chicago Bears
this coming Sunday for a prime time game. We are really enjoying what
weâre seeing at this point from this team.

What we discussed:

Thanks to all of our new listeners to the podcast and followers on twitterâ Welcome!

The Eagles of Philadelphia beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in Philly, 15-6

Brian Dawkins did NOT look old and slow, looking more like Superman with something to prove

Eagles Defense, looking amazing, swarmed Steelers QB Ben
Roethlisberger, sacking him eight times and backup QB Byron Leftwich
one time

Brian Westbrook and Donovan McNabb suffered injuries during the game, with McNabb returning and Westbrook not

We have a voicemail from Eric in Lansdale, PA

Asante Samuel had a great interception, his second of the season,
and looks to be fitting his role quite nicely here in Philadelphia

We talk about the NFC East Division, and the Giants, Cowboys and Redskins

Tailgate talk and some of the shenanigans that ensued

We have some Chicago Bears talk, and try to put our fingers on how the Eagles approach the game

EaglesFanCast 32 - Respect Your Elders

Show Notes: Episode 32 for Wednesday, September 17, 2008

The Philadelphia Eagles lose a heartbreaker in Irving
Texas to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. In one of the
best NFL games Iâve ever watched, critical mistakes cost the Eagles the
game, and they fall 41-37. In this show we try to put perspective on
the game, how early in the season it is, what went wrong, and what can
be done to fix things. Despite the loss, we recognize that the Eagles
are truly one of the best teams in the NFL this season, and it will be
a fun ride to the end.

What we discussed:

Philadelphia Eagles lose to the Dallas Cowboys, 41-37

We address Donovan McNabbâs fumbled handoff to Brian Westbrook and his inability to run the 2-minute Offense

Sean Considine got burned badly in the Terrell Owens TD reception

Brian Dawkins looked old and slow and definitely not on his game, and itâs both sad and worrisome

Three teams from the NFC East are in the Top 5 for the ESPN NFL Power Rankings

We talk about coaching on both sides of the ball

We have an email from Jason who talks about how he feels the day after the loss

The Eagles play the Pittsburgh Steelers at Lincoln Financial Field this coming Sunday

One of the things the Defense has to do this week is get to Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger

We get a twitter message from our buddy Jason from Bleeding Green Nation asking about any kind of interstate rivalry that may exist with the Steelers

We have a big tailgate planned this week, BIG!

Show Notes: Episode 31 for Tuesday, September 9, 2008

Our Philadelphia Eagles start the NFL 2008 season with
a blowout win at home in Lincoln Financial Field against the St. Louis
Rams. The Eagles played great on all sides of the ball, including
Special Teams, and our QB Donovan McNabb looked confident and back to
100% as we all hoped. There were few, if any, negative aspects of the
game, and there was never a time when the Rams were in the game. This
show had a lot of energy and we couldnât help but get excited for the
season, and we all anticipate the next game against our NFC East
rivals, Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football.

What we discussed:

Philadelphia Eagles win over the St. Louis Rams, 38-3

Eric and Chuck were at The Linc and Todd watched the game from his couch at home

We question Toddâs sanity with some of his comments

We have a voicemail from Aussie Mike, who warns us not to get too excited about one win

Eric supplies a bunch of impressive stats from the game

Sheldon Brownâs big hit, Brian Dawkins and Asante Samuelâs
defensive influence, Donovan McNabbâs passing game, Hank Baskett and
DeSean Jackson as very capable receivers

We had a twitter question from âcaffinationâ who asked if whether our Offense was that good or the Rams team was that bad. We say, both!

We talk about the Dallas Cowboys game on Monday Night Football this
coming week, and what it means for the rest of the season with a
victory in Dallas

Episode 14 - Start the Momentum

Show Notes for Tuesday, November 13, 2007

Since our last show two weeks ago, the Eagles continued their roller
coaster ride of a season, getting trounced by their East Division
rivals Dallas Cowboys at home, then taking out the Washington Redskins
down I-95 in a beautiful 4th Quarter comeback win. We talk briefly
about the Cowboys loss, and concentrate most of our talk about the
Redskins win and what's ahead for our Birds.

The confident feeling that the Eagles will win each game is gone

Defensive changes all season have contributed to inconsistency that affects the Offense

Special Teams is pretty much horrible this season

Basically, it's a team effort causing the inconsistency

The Miami game is not only a must-win, but to get the momentum they have to play extremely well against them

We're not far out of the playoff race, considering the state of the NFC

Brian Dawkins mini-documentary on ESPN

Miami Dolphins coming to the Linc this Sunday at 1:00, and we discuss

Show Notes: Episode 10 for Tuesday, October 9, 2007

We record this episode through a thunderstorm

Jason from Bleeding Green Nation blog and podcast is with us tonight

No Eagles news, so we talk about the Bills / Cowboys game last night

Round-table question time:

Based on the offseason and preseason, what Eagles player has been your biggest surprise/disappointment so far?

Questions and rumors surround Coach Andy Reid's effectiveness for
this season. If his sons were not involved in legal issues, and the
Eagles were still 1-3, do you think Reid's performance would still be a
huge issue?

Are you concerned about the number of injuries that the Eagles have
suffered so far, or is it just a simple part of the game that happens
every year?

As McNabb's scrambling abilities diminish, does a pocket passer
still fit into this offensive scheme, or do you feel the scheme has
changed accordingly?

How would you evaluate the entire coaching staff of the Eagles through the first four games?

With Dallas dominant and putting up impressive numbers, how crucial
are the next few weeks for the Eagles before meeting them for the first
time in November?

The Eagles have been criticized for not pursuing a big-name
receiver to compliment McNabb and Westbrook, despite being so far under
the salary cap... what are your thoughts?

We discuss expectations for the Eagles - Jets game at the Meadowlands this coming Sunday.

Originally, Ian from Inside the Iggles blog was also
supposed to be a guest on the show. Unfortunately, he had some serious
computer problems, which prevented him from sitting in with us.
