The Philadelphia Eagles pull together behind a stellar performance from backup (!?) quarterback Kevin Kolb and beat the Atlanta Falcons in Lincoln Financial Field, 31-17. The day was warm, the sun was shining, and the Eagles had a 21-0 lead before the Falcons scored. Special Teams, Defense and Offensive Line all had a great day, and allowed Kolb to work his magic, while stopping the Falcons repeatedly. Unfortunately the day was not perfect, as we witnessed star receiver DeSean Jackson go out with a severe concussion after a terrifying hit, and ol’ reliable kicker David Akers miss three field goals. The Philadelphia Eagles stay tied atop the NFC East with a win over the hapless San Francisco 49ers. Quarterback Kevin Kolb, playing for the injured Michael Vick, played with confidence behind an Offensive Line that sustained even more losses to injury. Speaking of injury, running back Lesean "Shady" McCoy started with a broken rib and contributed 138 total yards with a touchdown. Andy Reid had even more questionable coaching decisions that make us scratch our heads and the Eagles secondary fell asleep in the fourth quarter of the game, almost allowing the 49ers to build a comeback. Regardless of the negatives, the Eagles are now 3-2 on the season, and host the Atlanta Falcons this coming week in Philadelphia. What we discussed:

In what amounted to a disaster of a game, the Philadelphia Eagles lose at home to the Washington Redskins. Donovan McNabb’s homecoming was not what anyone predicted, with more Eagles players going down with concussions and broken bones, more poor officiating, some laughable coaching and penalties all adding up to a poor Eagles showing in front of a worldwide audience. McNabb performed badly, but it was the Redskins running game that won the game. Eagles latest starting quarterback, Michael Vick, went down with a rib cartilage injury, and Kevin Kolb came in off the bench. In what was arguably the game-losing moments, Head Coach Andy Reid flubbed clock management and play calling before the half, which resulted in a Field Goal instead of a potential touchdown. Reid’s ultimate explanation for the decisions was, “I goofed.” What we discussed:
