The Philadelphia Eagles have won Super Bowl LII and are your NFL Champions!!

The Eagles went into Minnesota the underdog for the third playoff game in a row, this time going against the New England Patriots. This time backup quarterback was going against the superior Tom Brady. Eagles head coach was going against the superior Bill Belichick. The Eagles were going against the superior Patriots.

The Eagles won.

THE EAGLES WON THE SUPER BOWL!!!

They beat the odds, and completed an unreal season, winning their first Super Bowl.

We discuss the emotions of the win, Steve talks about his experiences in Minneapolis during his trip to the big game, and we talk about what things are like and how things will change now that the Eagles are now NFL world champions.

This is the week. This is what we have waited for. This is what the team worked for. This is the outcome of the #1 seed in the NFC. This is what they overcame to beat the Atlanta Falcons and Minnesota Vikings.

The Super Bowl.

The Eagles and Patriots are in Minneapolis now. The opening ceremony, of sorts, kicked off yesterday. Then the excitement started. Our co-host Steve is going to the game, leaving Thursday. Todd and Chuck are staying at home, or watching with friends. Eagles fans are flying into Minneapolis or Philadelphia from all over the world to just be near when it happens.

We are just days away now.

The Philadelphia Eagles are in the Super Bowl!

The Eagles hosted the NFC Championship at the Linc in Philly and destroyed the Minnesota Vikings 38-7.

The Eagles are in the Super Bowl!!

After the Vikings drove down the field and scored a touchdown, the Eagles didn’t back down. The Offense clicked. The Defense clicked. The Vikings were completely shut down the remaining 55 minutes of the game, and the Eagles went on to score 38 unanswered points in what became a blowout win.

The Eagles are in the Super Bowl!!!

The fans were so loud in the stadium. In the fourth quarter of the game, it became a party atmosphere as the realization came that the shoe would not drop, and the Eagles luck would run out. We were going to win the NFC Championship, we were going to beat the Minnesota Vikings, and our Eagles, who fought so hard, maintained their composure and class and “next man up” attitude for the entire season, were going to the big game on an international stage.

The NFC Divisional Playoffs at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia had all the markers that the underdog Eagles would be beaten by the Atlanta Falcons at home. The Vegas oddsmakers thought so, the sports analysts thought so.

The trouble for all of them, and the Falcons, was the Eagles organization and fans didn’t think so.

The Eagles go on to beat the Falcons 15-10 in what was a Defensive struggle throughout. The fans in the stadium were louder than I’ve ever heard them, they stepped up, and believed. Coach Doug Pederson worked up a game plan that worked. Nick Foles did what Nick Foles does, and didn’t try to be Carson Wentz. The Offensive Line was in control, protected Foles, and moved the Defense for the runners. The Eagles Defense, though, stepped up huge. The scheme met what the Falcons threw at them. They kept the defending NFC Champions to only ten points in a playoff game. Think about that.

Now the Eagles are playing, at home, in the NFC Championship.

This Sunday evening, the Eagles invite the Minnesota Vikings into The Linc. The Eagles will be underdogs again.

Here we go, the playoffs. Home game. The Atlanta Falcons. The Eagles fans will be ready in Lincoln Financial Field.

The Eagles are the underdogs?

Yes, yes they are. For the first time in recent memory, the number one seed in the NFC, playing at home, are the underdogs.

This underlines the fact that no other team, right now, respects the Eagles, or what they have done this season. The rest of the league now believes that the Eagles were no more than our injured quarterback Carson Wentz.

They forget that the Eagles Defense was 4th in the league in total yards per game, 1st in the league in total yards per game, and the takeaway ratio is near the top.

Our Offense? Third in the league in rushing yards per game, and still 13th in the league in passing despite Carson going down. Total Offense yards per game? Seventh. This team is solid.

There are three factors in this game: 1. Nick Foles, which Nick shows up? 2. Offensive line protection for Foles. 3. A Defensive attack that stops the run and harasses Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan.

Either way, we want to see a good game, a fun game.

The Philadelphia Eagles finish out the regular season with a 6-0 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, marking the Eagles first loss both at home this season, and first loss against an NFC East team. What does this mean? Nothing!

They finish the season 13-3, made the playoffs, clinched a first round BYE, are the number one seed in the NFC, and have home field throughout the playoffs. This was a season unlike we’ve had since 2004, where the Birds had some notable injuries as well.

The Eagles play their first playoff game in two weeks at home. Nick Foles has struggled the last couple games, and that is the biggest concern. We need him to play well. Not great, but well enough to lead the Offense with sustained drives. The Defense can handle the rest.

We find out in a few days who the Eagles will play, and we will be watching and waiting.

Our favorite Eagle, Brian Dawkins, is one of the finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Few deserve the honor more than that man.
