Philadelphia Eagles defeat the Oakland Raiders in an ugly game in a cold Philly. Eagles clinch the number one seed in the NFC with the win and home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

So how do we feel? Anything but jubilant. We feel cautious, nervous, scared, irritated, and, well, pessimistic.

The Defense, while essentially winning the game, allowed big plays and executed poor tackling at times. And on Offense? Nick Foles was not the same player that he was the week before against the Giants. He got into trouble where he didn’t need to be, and was inaccurate on passes way more often than we would have liked.

As such, there is a real concern about the playoffs. Can Foles read and deal with the pressure of better Defenses? Can quality quarterbacks shred our Defense?

Many more questions than we are comfortable with for a 13-2 team with home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Well one more game of the regular season is in front of us, the Dallas Cowboys. This game means nothing. But Foles needs more chemistry and familiarity with his receivers, tight ends, and backs. Will be interesting to see what the coaches decide.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Philadelphia Eagles have clinched a first round BYE, and get to host the Divisional round! That was the good news of the win over the New York Giants. The bad news is the Eagles Defense allowed almost 500 yards from Eli Manning and the Giants Offense, considered one of the worst Offenses in the league.

There is concern, and the rest of the league’s analysts see a big concern. We see more of a Defense that was on its third road game, coming off two tough opponents in the Seahawks and Rams. We do expect the players and coaches to recover back to the very strong level they were weeks ago.

At this point, if the Eagles win one of their last two games, and the Vikings lose one game, the Birds have home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Todd throws out the comparison of stats between Carson Wentz and Nick Foles. Amazing how close these two guys are. Quarterback controversy? LOL

Talk about an up and down Sunday of football. The Philadelphia Eagles enter their second road game on the west coast after losing the previous week to the Seattle Seahawks. The Los Angeles Rams, helmed by quarterback Jared Goff had a 9-3 record and poised for their run at the playoffs, with a lot to play for. Play they did, and so did the Eagles in a brawl of a football game, with ultimately the Eagles besting the Rams 43-35, and clinching the NFC East.

A time for celebration!

But wait, there’s more!

Unfortunately among the celebration was the realization that potential MVP quarterback Carson Wentz tore his ACL in his left knee. Lost for the season, and well over half of the 2018 calendar year.

Gut punch. Kick in the gonads. A full-on stomach flu feel for Eagles fans the world over.

So now the Eagles have backup quarterback Nick Foles taking the team forward from here on out this season. Nick Foles led the Eagles previously, and had much success. He now has more weapons than he had before.

The Eagles are 11-2, and have the hapless New York Giants this Sunday. Now the Eagles are playing for the #1 seed in the NFC for the playoffs.

We said at the beginning of this season that if the Eagles did not make the playoffs, we would consider this season a failure. They met that goal. The rest is fun. We should not be down, we have an amazing team, are 11 and freaking 2, and have seen some great football so far. This ride is not finished yet. Hang on, it may be bumpy though.

The beginning of the Philadelphia Eagles west coast trip did not go as planned. Our Birds dropped the game to the Seattle Seahawks 24-10, and dropping their nine-game winning streak in the process. The loss leaves the Eagles with a 10-2 record, and still a win away from clinching the NFC East. Several factors came together such as fumbles, play calls, and coach Doug Pederson not challenging an illegal forward pass, to make plenty of fodder for the naysayers around the league.

But this Eagles team will be ready for the Los Angeles Rams this coming Sunday. Todd and Chuck believe the Eagles team will use this week in Anaheim to come to terms with the team they are, and where the mistakes were made, and how they missed opportunities to win in Seattle. We feel the Eagles will bounce back big time and level the Rams. Steve, on the other hand, said the Seattle loss has made him much more nervous about the Rams game than he was before.

Either way, Eagles fans are expected be arrive in force for the game in Los Angeles, much like they did when the Eagles played the Chargers last month.

The NFC East will belong to the Birds in Green, and with that the start of a new winning streak. Let’s do this, Eagles fans!

The Philadelphia Eagles are back home for a week and host the Chicago Bears at Lincoln Financial Field. It didn’t go well for the Bears, as the Eagles dismantled every part of the Bears Defense and Offense, winning 31-3.

What else can be said at this point with the 10-1 Eagles? They are playing at a very high level, but not looking, at all, like they playing above themselves as either a team, or individual players. Each player that subs in during the game is simply another threat the other defense has to worry about.

And speaking of Defense, the Eagles version of it is ridiculous. They have upended Offensive Lines, quarterbacks, the run game and harassed receivers week after week. The Bears had six, SIX, rushing yards.

Next is the first of two big tests for the Eagles. They go out west and take on a very tough Seattle Seahawks. The week after, they travel down the west coast and meet up with the Los Angeles Rams. These are two high-powered teams, led by very good quarterbacks. This test comes at the perfect time in the season, where the Eagles can prove complete dominance of the league, or as a catalyst for the rest of the season to correct any outstanding negatives that are hiding in the team.

Either way, the Eagles “magic number” is one. If the Dallas Cowboys lose on Thursday, or the Eagles beat the Seahawks on Sunday, the NFC East belongs to the midnight green and silver.

These are good times, let’s enjoy every minute of this Autumn.

Philadelphia Eagles versus the Dallas Cowboys. An NFC East division rivalry. The Eagles on the road after a BYE week in very hostile territory, against a desperate Cowboys team with the need to prove something to the Eagles, and the NFL. On paper, the Eagles had the advantage.

The Eagles come out in the first half rusty, with Carson Wentz showing some inaccuracies in passing, a few dropped passes that looked like easy grabs, and after scoring on a drive composed mostly of running plays, the run game seemed to be shelved after that drive.

Going into the half, the Cowboys led the Eagles 9-7. The second half might be a slugfest and classic NFC East showdown.

It was a slugfest. But all of the slugging was done by the Eagles, where they scored 30 unanswered points, blowing out the home team, and practically cementing the NFC East outcome.

This week the Eagles come back to a very excited and raucous crowd in Philly, hosting the Chicago Bears. Each week is another step, and the Eagles get one step closer with another win against the Bears.

At the Eagles BYE week, just past the mid-point of the season, we see the Philadelphia Eagles with a 8-1 record. The Birds have won seven straight games, and have not lost a game to a team in the NFC or the NFC East. Their last three games they have won by a margin of 28 points (over Denver Broncos 51-23), 23 points (over San Francisco 49ers 33-10), and 10 points (over Washington Redskins 34-24). They are getting better as the season is going, despite four starters gone for the year.

This week is Dallas, though. A crucial game with potential playoff ramifications. Everything points to the Eagles winning this game, especially with the odd turmoil the Cowboys organization seems to be in lately. But this is the NFL, where any team seems to be able to win each week. I mean, even the Giants won a game this season.

We were all over the place in this episode, though, with not so quiet confidence in this team and what they can do. Already talking playoffs after nine games? When was the last time we had that luxury? We are all just enjoying it right now.

Our Philadelphia Eagles take care of business in rainy Philadelphia on Sunday and rightfully smash the San Francisco 49ers 33-10. This puts the Eagles at 7-1, with another NFC win. It was a game they should have won, as the Niners were winless coming into the game.

At this point, the Birds are in a commanding spot with the best record in the NFL at the halfway mark of the season, with another home game this week against the struggling Denver Broncos. Denver has lost three straight games, and just changed their starting quarterback to Brock Osweiler. This could rejuvenate their Offense, causing problems for the Eagles Defense, but we still have a lot of confidence there. The Broncos Defense, on the other hand, is solid. If Wentz is consistent, this will be another win going into the BYE.

We also talk about the Eagles trade this week before the trade deadline. Eagles acquired Jay Ajayi from the Miami Dolphins for a 2018 fourth round pick. This bolsters the running game significantly as Ajayi is a physical runner and isn’t brought down easy, and can elude tackles. LaGarrette Blount pounds into the defense and gets the yards. We will have two bruising backs now, and Ajayi can also get in some extra blocking to protect Carson Wentz in the pocket.

Quality receivers, bruising running backs, and a smart and slippery quarterback. Many pieces are in place.

The Philadelphia Eagles have the best record in the NFL.

Read that sentence again.

The Birds are now 6-1 on the season. They are 3-0 in the NFC East. They are 5-0 in the NFC. They are in solid shape at this point in the season, and have handled adversity in amazing ways. The Washington Redskins were the latest in this midnight green highway when they came to Lincoln Financial Field and lost.

After a rough first quarter, where the Eagles were cited with multiple penalties, negative yardage, and a Carson Wentz interception… all on the Eagles first possession of the game, they escaped with only a 3-0 deficit. In the second the Eagles outscored the Redskins 17-7, and barely looked back.

We are seeing Wentz to continue to develop, take chances, and make miraculous escapes from the pocket. He is also taking a tough sack, and then throwing touchdown passes a play or two later. He’s a leader of this team, and the team is showing full support for what he is doing and backing him every step of the way. It’s the beginning of something amazing, and a 6-1 record is a great beginning.

The Monday Night Football game also brought David Akers back for his induction into the Eagles Hall of Fame, as Akers is the highest scorer in the history of the team. He led an Eagles cheer  during his induction ceremony, and 70,000 fans cheered with him.

Next is a home game with the San Francisco 49ers traveling east to play in Philly. The Niners have not won a game yet this season, but that can make them a dangerous prospect. We still do not see this as anything but a win for the Eagles, as the coaching staff and players do not take any team lightly, they know every game is a fight, and no opponent is weak.

The negative that came out of the game is the Eagles lost two needed starters in Jason Peters and Jordan Hicks with injuries that ended their seasons. Both players are excellent in their positions and are starters for a reason. It’s a concern for us with having lost two more starters even before the halfway mark in the season.

Our Philadelphia Eagles beat the Carolina Panthers in a Thursday night showdown  in another road game.

Now the Eagles have a 5-1 record, the best in the NFC. We are also tied for the best record in the NFL, along with the Kansas City Chiefs. This record comes after the Birds spend 4 of those games on the road, only losing the one to the Chiefs themselves. Since that loss, the Eagles have won four straight, and seemed to have gelled as a team, despite a few key player losses due to injury.

The depth is apparent as players filled those gaps, and allowed the team to play very solid football. This week the Eagles get Lane Johnson back after a concussion protocol.

Right now the Eagles are in great shape with three upcoming home games before the BYE in Week 10.

First is Monday Night Football against the Washington Redskins, the only NFC East team that appears at this point to pose a threat to the Eagles for the Division. A divisional game at home… this is football we want!

Our Philadelphia Eagles make a statement at the Linc Sunday, crushing the Arizona Cardinals 34-7. This moves the Birds to 4-1 on the season. Nelson Agholor was the Eagles standout receiver of the game, with four receptions for 93 yards and a beautiful touchdown. Quarterback Carson Wentz put up 304 yards in the air with four touchdowns… three of which came in the first quarter of the game alone.

This was even more important considering both the Giants and Cowboys lost this week, so the Eagles sit atop the division by themselves. With a powerful new run game, it has kept Defenses off-balance the past two weeks.

Wentz also has been doing an exceptional job at recognizing a defensive set he was not comfortable with. His audibles at the line produced positive yardage every time. The coaches are respecting Carson’s eyes and decision-making abilities more and more. The weapons are there, and the Offense has been capitalizing.

Next is a short week, as the Eagles go down the coast and take on the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers are always a tough team, and depending on the Cam Newton that arrives to the game, this will not be an easy game on either side of the ball. On a short week, away game, and against another 4-1 team, this could be harder than most fans want. If it is a loss, we want the Eagles to challenge all game and lose to a better team. But a win would be huge, and would make a lot of believers.

Well so many Eagles fans showed up at the game, that it was pretty much like an Eagles home game. Eagles fans booed the Chargers when they were announced, cheered “Dallas sucks!” at random times, and drowned out the “Let’s Go Chargers!” chants with “Let’s Go Eagles!”. Our Defense even raised the Birds fans cheers on third downs, and Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz took it upon himself to quiet the crowd when he was working under center.

Amazing, and absolutely great.

Our cohost Todd (@tradonks) was at the game, and kept sending photos of Eagles fans, well, everywhere. The TV announcers were even talking about it.

The greatest fanbase in any sport, hands down.

Besides that awesomeness, the Eagles beat the Chargers 26-24 to go 3-1 on the season, and now sit atop the NFC East. The Eagles have won two out of their three road games, and both of the games against division rivals. The Defense forced another turnover, the Offense running game put up over 200 yards, thanks to LaGarrette Blount going beast mode this week, and star rookie kicker Jake Elliott booting four more field goals, all of them over 40 yards, with the long of 53. Overall it was a solid game, and a good win on the season.

Next the Eagles are home in Lincoln Financial Field hosting the Arizona Cardinals with QB Carson Palmer who can always be dangerous.

We are back after a record-setting  amazing win over the New York Giants! We all know the story at this point, with the game tied with only one second left in the game, the Eagles rookie kicker, Jake Elliott was asked to do the near-impossible: kick a field goal of 61 yards. This was a feat that was never accomplished by any Philadelphia Eagles kicker, let alone Eagles rookie kicker! The kick was away… and the kick was gooooooooooood!!!

Eagles fans the world over celebrated together as the Eagles win another division game, move to two wins and one loss on the season, send the Giants to 0-3, and witness history. It was an amazing moment in our fandom.

Overall the game was not great, after the Eagles led 14-0 going into the fourth quarter and feeling good. The Giants had other plans, thanks in part to Odell Beckham Jr. making two amazing end zone catches, the second the result of a drive by the Giants after an Eagles turnover. Just like that it was tied at 14. An Eagles punt and subsequent Giants drive for a touchdown put the Giants ahead 21-14. How did this happen so fast?

But the Eagles answered with a TD of their own to tie it at 21. A Giants field goal, then Eagles field goal then led to the drama of a tie game with less than a minute left. Eagles stopped the Giants drive, which led to a poor punt by the Giants, giving the ball to the Eagles with only 13 seconds left in the game.

Carson Wentz then tried to get the Eagles’ kicker close, but ONLY set him up for the 61 yard attempt. Everyone expected overtime. But not on this day. The rookie Elliott made that kick look almost easy, and was carried off by his teammates to the locker room.

A ridiculous fourth quarter, and a big win for the Eagles.

The Philadelphia Eagles end the season on that high note, beating the Dallas Cowboys 27-13. Some claimed that the game didn’t mean anything because the Eagles are not in the playoffs. But the Eagles beat another NFC East division rival, the second in as many weeks. They won another home game, the sixth on the season. Their rookie quarterback Carson Wentz gained more experience. They end the season with two wins to go into the offseason. And oh yeah, they beat the Cowboys. All in all, it was a fun way to end the season, and had much to build on in the off season.

The Eagles end the 2016-2017 season with a record of 7-9 after starting 3-0, but our rookie QB more than impressed, and will be a great leader for many years to come. He is a player a team can be built around. That’s huge. This team appears to be only a few pieces shy of making the playoffs. And maybe not too long after that, the big game. We’re along for the ride!
