The Philadelphia Eagles had a big week, winning their sixth straight game by defeating the Denver Broncos in Philly, welcoming back Brian Dawkins and Correll Buckhalter, and seeing six of their players make it to the Pro Bowl.  But what is bigger than this week is what they have coming up next… the Dallas Cowboys, the NFC East, and a first-round BYE in the playoffs.  We do our best to break it all down from the fans’ point of view, and hear from other fans in the process as the 2009 NFL regular season comes to a close in the Eagles biggest game of the season.  Hold on tight, everyone, our playoffs start this week in Dallas!

What we discussed:

  • Eagles beat the Denver Broncos, 30-27, and have won their last six games
  • Eric reads an email from AussieMike from November, who mentioned that if the Eagles went 12-4 on the season, he would walk bare-assed down Bourke Street
  • Eric talks about how Lincoln Financial Field received Brian Dawkins back home
  • We talk about Jamaal Jackson’s season-ending injury, and what it means to this Offense
  • Aussie Steve calls in a voicemail
  • How huge is this game against Dallas this week?!
  • Playoff scenarios in the NFC
  • Where we are watching the game
  • Email from Dean in Birmingham, England
  • Email from Reverend Jim in Brisbane, Australia

Our Philadelphia Eagles win their fifth straight game against the San Francisco 49ers at home in snowy Lincoln Financial Field. Amid some hiccups during the game, the team pulled itself together, and locked their playoff spot, leaving only two games to play in the regular season against Denver next week and finishing the season in Dallas.

What we discussed:

  • Eagles win over the 49ers 27-13
  • Eagles Offense driving better than they were, and are much improved at this juncture in the season
  • There is still a balanced pass/run offense, and it continues to work
  • The Denver Broncos are a concern because of the potential of the Eagles players looking forward to the Cowboys game

  • The Great Snowball Fight of 2009
  • Email from Dennis in Gettysburg, PA

The Philadelphia Eagles travel up the New Jersey Turnpike for their last regular season game at Giants Stadium, and in an epic Eagles-Giants battle, win 45-38.  Not only do the Eagles sweep the Giants this year, but with the Dallas Cowboys loss earlier in the day, the Eagles wind up alone in first place in the NFC East.  All aspects of the team contributed to the victory, and the team showed an enormous amount of character in the face of a tough Giants Offense.  Our confidence builds as the regular season approaches the last few weeks, and we can start to see the playoffs in our sights.

What we discussed:

  • Explosive Offense kept the Giants Defense guessing
  • If Brian Westbrook comes back, a fear is that Andy Reid will revert to an unbalanced Offense again
  • Michael Vick is getting more comfortable out there
  • Email from Steve asking about the Vick / McNabb change in Offense and how it can confuse Defenses
  • Email from KC in Gettysburg, which sparks a conversation of the playoffs are just not enough
  • Email from Dennis in Gettysburg, PA bringing up the point of the Eagles D having continued troubles tackling
  • Voicemail from DQ in NY, talking about Vick being traded for no better than a 5th round draft pick
  • Email from Alex with talk of DeSean Jackson
  • Eagles getting hot, gelling, showing balanced play calling… and we are getting sucked in
  • Watching the Cowboys self-destruct again is also worth it in December

Notes:

  • If you’re in South Jersey, stop into Swedesboro Stogies for a cigar!
  • Luis from Green Fans – The Movie called today and said that the DVD’s start shipping Wednesday morning!
  • Thanks to James in North Carolina for this week’s show name suggestion

The Philadelphia Eagles roll into Atlanta and destroy a depleted Falcons team with the help of none other than Michael Vick, who scored his first two touchdowns of the season with the win.  The Eagles also move into a tie for first place in the division after the New York Giants defeat the Dallas Cowboys.  The Eagles do not have time to reflect as they will be driving up the New Jersey Turnpike this Sunday where they will take on the Giants for another extremely important game.  We talk about all of this, handle a few emails and talk about where this Eagles team is at this point in the season.

What we discussed:
  • Eagles crush the Atlanta Falcons 34-7 in Atlanta
  • Michael Vick scores a touchdown both on the ground and through the air
  • Leonard Weaver made some amazing plays and is another Eagles weapon
  • Decent play all around from all sides of the ball this week
  • Email from Craig in upstate NY
  • We talk about some of the other NFL teams and how the season is turning out
  • Voicemail from... Jerry Jones?
  • Email from AussieSteve
  • Do we bring back Brian Westbrook, even if he's ready?
  • Twitter topic from iconjohn... Vick as a non-factor, was it a good move by Lurie?
  • Eagles go to the New York Giants this week, big game as any Divisional game is.

The Philadelphia Eagles post a second come from behind win in as many weeks, defeating the Washington Redskins at home.  This places the Eagles with a 7-4 record, and hot in the race for the Wild Card.  Although we see flaws with the team and have serious concerns, we explore the possibility of this team gelling and surging into the playoffs.  Now what happens when they get there is another story, but anything can happen with this NFL it seems.

What we discussed:

  • The Eagles win over the Redskins and move to 7-4
  • Can the Eagles be starting to gel and make a serious run at the playoffs?
  • Eagles sign TE Brent Celek to a contract extension
  • The Eagles moved the ball against a good Redskins Defense
  • Asante Samuel making the picks, but still not the tackles, and that is ok with us
  • The New Orleans Saints and Drew Brees just look dominating
  • Email from Dr. Krug in Gettysburg
  • Email from Dennis in Gerrysburg
  • DeSean Jackson suffers a concussion in the game, and might not play against the Falcons
  • The Eagles activate WR Jordan Norwood from the practice squad today
  • A side story we expect to see more of as the week progresses is Michael Vick’s return to Atlanta

A wild week for us as we had to bail on the Tuesday night recording, then tonight didn’t get any better as both Eric and Todd were not able to make it last second. Good thing is, I had Luis from Green Fans – The Movie scheduled to come on, and we were able to talk at length about his movie and all kinds of Eagles topics.

What we discussed:

  • Luis talks about his 3-year project, Green Fans – The Movie, what it entailed, what he learned, some of the players he interviewed, and some of the multitudes of fans
  • The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football, out in Chicago 24-20
  • It was a win, but there were still a bunch of things to be concerned about
  • Concerns about David Akers, Sav Rocca, the Offensive Line, the Cornerbacks
  • Shawn Andrews, will he return?
  • Winston Justice signs a 4-year contract extension
  • Email from Alex
  • Donovan McNabb and his future as a Hall of Famer relies solely on a Super Bowl ring
  • Michael Vick and his place on the team and his progress

Chuck takes a vacation break, and we’re back after two weeks, and an unfortunate two Eagles losses to the Dallas Cowboys and the San Diego Chargers. We again try to figure out where the inconsistencies lie with this team, and sort out the latest downswing and look at how the second half of the season will play out.

What we discussed:

  • Eagles lose to the Dallas Cowboys at home 20-16
  • Eagles lose to the San Diego Chargers on the road 31-23
  • Eric feels that head coach Andy Reid should be gone
  • Inconsistency, injuries, penalties and coaching have contributed to an unsure season
  • Email from Jerry in Middletown, PA
  • Email from Aussie Steve
  • Email from Craig in upstate NY
  • Eric calling for Eagles to win out
  • Predictions for all of us say a definitive win over the Chicago Bears

The Philadelphia Eagles bounce back from two disappointing showings to trounce the New York Giants 40-17 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.  The Eagles jumped out early, executed a very effective Offense, harassed the Giants weapons, and never looked back as they soared to the top of the NFC East.  We break down what we saw, and listen to other fans talk in emails and a voicemail.

What we discussed:

  • Eagles win by 23 over the Giants and move to the top of the NFC East
  • It was complete domination from the beginning of the game
  • The Offense ran the ball a lot more, despite not having RB Brian Westbrook in the lineup
  • Voicemail from Brian in Panama City, FL
  • Coaching, QB Donovan McNabb, playcalling… everything was ready for this Giants team
  • The Dallas Cowboys are coming to town and it cannot be a bigger game at this point in the season
  • Email from Aussie Mike
  • Email from Alex
  • Are we a new team, or do we still have the remnants of the Raiders game to worry about?
  • Email from Dennis in Gettysburg, PA
  • We talk about Green Fans: the Movie which will be coming out this month. Check it out at http://GreenFansthemovie.com and we hope to have one of the creators on our show in two weeks!

The Philadelphia Eagles come off a win against the Washington ForeRedskins 27-17 on Monday Night Football, and we couldn’t be more… apathetic.  The Eagles Offense was disappointing, and the team did not play up to the caliber that we expected after the embarrassing loss to the Raiders last week.  What makes matters worse is RB Brian Westbrook went down with a concussion and might miss the next game.  Donovan McNabb was off again, the wildcat has mange, and the Eagles next play NFC East Division rivals, the New York Giants. If coach Andy Reid does not fix what is wrong, and quick, then the remainder of the 2009 season is going to be a very long one.

What we discussed:

  • Eagles win on Monday Night Football, 27-17 over the Washington Redskins
  • It was an unimpressive game except for a few standout plays
  • Brian Westbrook suffered a concussion in the game, and may not be able to play against the Giants
  • We talk DeSean Jackson’s speed, Will Witherspoon’s play and Donovan McNabb’s troubles
  • Email from Evan
  • Todd calls a Loss for this game against the Giants
  • Email from Dennis in Gettysburg
  • Email from Dr. Krug
  • We chat about Michael Vick and where the ‘wildcat’ is with this team

The Philadelphia Eagles lose to the horrible Oakland Raiders in a game that pretty much everyone thought was a lock for a Win.  Almost every aspect of the team contributed to the embarrassment, from coaching, playcalling, tackling, passing, blocking and kicking.  We try to express some of what transpired since the game, what went wrong, and our concerns for the future.  Joining us this week is Cody Benjamin, from the Eagles fan blog, Bleed Green.

What we discussed:

  • Cody from Bleed Green joins us, and we ask him about his site
  • Who is to blame for this horrible loss? It might be easier to say who is not
  • Andy Reid shoulders the blame for this loss… no adjustments, and he was completely outcoached
  • Eagles trade with Rams at the deadline, picked up LB Will Witherspoon and sent them rookie WR Brandon Gibson
  • Donovan McNabb was under pressure all game, and he was too jumpy as a result
  • Stacy Andrews still looking tender, and may not be 100% for a while yet
  • email from Evan
  • email from Aussie Steve
  • email saying farewell to Trotter
  • email from Dr. Krug in Gettysburg
  • We are angry about this loss, and why?
  • We touch on what to be nervous about moving forward

The Philadelphia Eagles take apart the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 33-14 in Philadelphia this week.  Quarterback Donovan McNabb returns from his rib injury, Jeremiah Trotter returns to the team, and Jeremy Maclin has a phenomenal game playing for the injured Kevin Curtis.  The win wasn’t without some negativity, but the Offense put together a solid game and helped Head Coach Andy Reid move to 11-0 after the BYE week.

What we discussed:

  • Eagles beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 33-14, but although satisfying, it wasn’t fun to watch throughout
  • The game was frustrating because of the amount of penalties, poor officiating and just how bad Tampa Bay is
  • We talk about the play of McNabb, Westbrook, Maclin, Celek and more
  • Andy Reid’s rumored contract extension, and he is now 11-0 after the BYE
  • Email from Aussie Steve
  • Email from Alex
  • Steve from the UK put together 10 years of stats in a spreadsheet and has been analyzing the hell out of it showing how much Eagles fans love their football

We tried something new this week, as we incorporated a live chat during the show recording.  We wanted to get a live chat going so people could interact and participate while we record.  Then we realized that it would make more sense if you could hear what we were talking about.  So we configured a channel over at ustream.  We tested it out, and it was a success, and we had a bunch of people in the chat room checking out the scene and we only let people know a few minutes beforehand!  Awesome time, thanks to everyone who came and visited.

We’ll be doing this each week when we record from now on since the live feedback was all positive.  Bookmark our channel at http://ustream.tv/channel/EaglesFanCast, and register for an account, so you can join in the chat!

The Philadelphia Eagles take a BYE week, but we are still talking all about the Birds this week, and it’s an even bigger show as Jason from Bleeding Green Nation joins us again.  All the usual suspects (McNabb, Vick, Kolb, Westbrook, Trotter) are the topics of our conversation as we sort out where the Eagles are at this early point in the season.

What we discussed:

  • We catch up with Jason of Bleeding Green Nation and what’s been going on with his site
  • We talk about Jeremiah Trotter and try to figure out why he’s back
  • Eagles players coming off injury: McNabb, Westbrook and Curtis all practicing
  • The Wildcat Offense – our thoughts
  • The Michael Vick situation, present and future

The Philadelphia Eagles put together another impressive Offensive effort in beating the Kansas City Chiefs 34-14.  Granted it was the Chiefs, but we were able to see a confident Kevin Kolb come out and run the Offense and effectively move the ball and make very few mistakes.  It also marked the return of Michael Vick to the NFL where his role this week was more of a decoy than the much-hyped wildcat offense has led us to expect.  Also big news today was the signing of former Eagle linebacker Jeremiah Trotter, who left the team, lobbied to come back, then was cut in 2007.  This Eagles organization is anything but boring since the Summer.

What we discussed:

  • Todd came to Philly and he gives his impressions of the updated tailgate
  • Eagles win big over the lousy Kansas City Chiefs
  • Kevin Kolb named NFC Player of the Week, and sets an NFL record for the first Quarterback to ever throw for over 300 yards in each of his first two starts
  • The young players stepped up and played great (McCoy, Kolb, Jackson)
  • Michael Vick makes his first regular season appearance since 2006
  • Eagles signed LB Jeremiah Trotter and released Jeff Garcia
  • What does the Trotter signing really mean to this Defense?
  • Email from Dan in England
  • Voicemail from "Cowboy"  LOL
  • Email from Pat in PA, posing a very interesting scenario
  • Email from Dennis in Gettysburg, PA
  • Randall Cunningham (QB; 1985-1995) and Al Wistert (T; 1943-1951) both inducted into the Philadelphia Eagles Honor Roll at Halftime
  • Email from Holden

This week’s Philadelphia Eagles game was a big one.  It was quarterback Kevin Kolb’s debut as a starter, filling in for the injured Donovan McNabb.  It was the home opener.  It was against a very tough NFC opponent in the New Orleans Saints.  Well the Eagles rebounded off a great performance against the Panthers last week, and underachieved, made mistakes, and took themselves out of a game.  We chat about how Kolb looked out there, what went wrong with the team to lose in such an embarrassing way, the wildcat offense, and field some emails from listeners that have concerns.

What we discussed:

  • Eagles lose to Saints 48-22
  • Kevin Kolb impressed, and we feel he finally earned his spot on the roster
  • Special Teams was just horrendous
  • Is Andy Reid losing control of the team?
  • The wildcat offense was used a lot in this game, is this the new Eagles Offense?
  • Brent Celek had a big game with 101 yards
  • Email from Dennis
  • Email from Holden
  • Email from Alex
  • We talk about the Kansas City Chiefs game this coming week

The Philadelphia Eagles crush the Carolina Panthers 38-10 in a bittersweet win as we also lose our quarterback Donovan McNabb to a broken rib on a late touchdown run.  The Eagles make a lot of moves with some familiar names in the last day in response to McNabb’s injury. Jeff Garcia returns to the Birds, Michael Vick is activated so he can start practicing, and to make room, Guard Shawn Andrews is placed on the IR and Wide Receiver Hank Baskett is cut. An overwhelming news day, and we bring it all to you in typical Green style.

What we discussed:

  • Eagles rout the Panthers 38-10
  • New Defensive Coordinator Sean  McDermott called a great game and alleviated any concerns that he can lead this Defense through the year
  • Trent Cole looked amazing
  • McNabb’s injury play is debated
  • Quarterback Kevin Kolb didn’t impress (again) and he now has the opportunity of his young career this coming week against the New Orleans Saints
  • Email from Dennis from Gettysburg, PA
  • Brian Westbrook’s option was not signed by the Eagles today, leaving him a free agent in 2010
  • Jeff Garcia in, Hank Baskett out, Shawn Andrews out and Michael Vick activated
  • Sheldon Brown had two interceptions in a great performance
  • We talk further about the Saints coming to down this week

The Eagles win their first preseason game, and Michael Vick debuts in Eagles green on the field. Most fans at The Linc give him a standing ovation as he trotted out on the field and the stage is set for a very interesting season. It’s tough to watch and talk about the preseason games, because you don’t know what will make it to the regular season, from players, to strategy, to expectations. Most of this week’s show focuses on Quarterbacks and Defense.

What we talked about:

  • Michael Vick debuts in Eagles Green
  • Fans hard on Donovan McNabb, as usual
  • Does a Brady or Favre, in Eagles Green, get the same treatment?
  • The team still looks sloppy
  • Will the “wildcat” offense with Vick really work?

A slight divergence from the normal EaglesFanCast podcast you all have come to expect.  Hope you don’t mind!

We had the opportunity to have a chat with Robert Siegel, the Writer and Director of the new movie Big Fan, which will be hitting theaters in limited release only in New York and Philadelphia on Friday, August 29th.   In Philadelphia it will be playing at the Landmark Ritz at the Bourse, definitely go see it.  Check the movie website for more cities and release dates.

Eric and I had a good time talking with Robert and learned more about this drama, his take on the characters, and how a New York sports bar was transformed into a Philly sports bar.   Listen in, and if you go to see it, please let us know what you think!

Find out more about Big Fan at the movie’s  official website.

We will be back again next week and talk about Michael Vick’s game debut for the Eagles after he plays in the preseason Jacksonville Jaguars game in Philly.  Since he and Donovan McNabb are slated to play the first three quarters, we won’t have to wait for the regular season to find out how Coach Andy Reid plans to utilize Vick’s talents in our Offense.

We've taken a few months off, and it was a slow Eagles news time anyway, but we are back.

Unfortunately, we record this episode with heavy hearts, as long-time Eagles Defensive Coordinator, Jim Johnson, passed away today.  He had been battling cancer for a while, and was 68.  We will never forget what he did for the players, coaches and fans of this organization, and we wish his family all the best during this very hard time.

The Philadelphia Eagles website has an amazing tribute to the best Defensive Coordinator the organization, and perhaps the NFL, has ever had.

What we talked about:

  • We remember Jim Johnson, who passed away today.
  • Sean McDermott, the new Eagles Defensive Coordinator named last week, is young and has to gain the respect of the players
  • WR Jeremy Maclin has not signed yet, but there are no worries
  • Training Camp talk: Brian Westbrook looks great, Stacy Andrews is a monster, Shawn Andrews looks like his old self, and Donovan McNabb is having fun
  • Eagles Flight Night is this Sunday - Chuck and Eric will be going, so say hi
  • We talk a little Phillies... we can't help it, it's a Philly thing
  • Email from Phil - he has the same thing most Eagles fans are feeling right now: is excited, but has reservations

One last thing, web aficionado and all-around good guy, Drew Olanoff, was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago. Not one to sit back and do nothing, he turned his passion for life and the web on the cancer itself. If you are on twitter, chances are you have seen people blame Drew's cancer  for many things in their own lives.  Drew's created the "Blame Drew's Cancer" movement where  he has partnered with Livestrong, and hopes to get sponsors to donate a dollar for every time someone blames Drew's cancer for something.  If you're on twitter, go ahead.

We're back, so too should you be:

  • Draft talk.  It’s why we’re here again this week!
  • WR Jeremy Maclin is taken by the Eagles in the first round
  • RB LeSean McCoy is the Eagles second round pick
  • Is this Offense better than what was on the field in the NFC Championship?
  • Denver Broncos running back situation
  • Oakland Raiders draft of WR Darrius Heyward-Bey
  • TE Cornelius Ingram is grabbed in the fifth round
  • We talk about Sheldon Brown and signing the younger players to long term contracts

The NFL Draft 2009 starts in just a few days, and the rumors and speculation has been going strong for weeks now.  Most analysts think the Eagles will be taking a running back, specifically Knowshon Moreno out of Georgia, as their first pick.  We, together with Tommy Lawlor from The Scouts Notebook as well as PhiladelphiaEagles.com, talk about the Draft and the latest rocky situation, this time involving Sheldon Brown.

What we discussed:

  • We chat with Tommy Lawlor about how things have been going for him the last year
  • We get Tommy’s take on the Jason Peters trade
  • The Sheldon Brown situation is discussed
  • Email from Aussie Eagle, who’s angry about Sheldon Brown’s comments
  • Prospect RB Knowshon Moreno (Georgia) as the player most people think the Eagles will take with their first pick
  • What the Eagles need as a team, and what might happen
  • We talk about the Anquan Boldin rumors, and do the Eagles really need a wide receiver?
  • Tommy likes WR Hakeem Nicks (UNC), CB Alphonso Smith (Wake Forest), TE Brandon Pettigrew (Oklahoma State), DE Everette Brown (Florida State), FS Malcolm Jenkins (Ohio State)

We’re just over a week away from the NFL Draft, and today the 2009 NFL Schedule was released. It’s an exciting time in the offseason, that’s for sure. So we talk about the Eagles schedule, a loss of a Philadelphia “friend” and what we have planned for next week.

What we discussed:

  • The 2009 NFL Schedule was released today, and we are not happy how it turned out, for many reasons
  • Eric talks about meeting Harry Kalas in Chicago in 2008
  • We remember Harry Kalas, the voice of the Philadelphia Phillies and NFL Films, who passed away on Monday
  • Tommy Lawlor from The Scouts Notebook and PhiladelphiaEagles.com’s Fan-Demonium will be joining us next week to talk with us about what we should expect from the Draft

Wow the Philadelphia Eagles offseason seems long this year, doesn’t it? A bunch of heartfelt losses and nothing exciting on the signing front (with no offense meant to Stacy Andrews or the others). The Eagles did sign fullback Leonard Weaver, which fills a big hole on Offense and definitely helps the running game on a few levels. Other than that it’s been rumors, speculation and a few low-impact signings. This show, our friend Jason from Bleeding Green Nation stops in to chat with us about what’s been going on with the Eagles for the last few weeks. We also hit on various players and address a few rumors about some big profile players.

What we discussed:

  • Eagles signings: FB Leonard Weaver, S Rashad Baker and S Sean Jones
  • Eagles still have a lot of holes to fill
  • The team is conservative with their money, but have gone out and spent big in the past
  • Email from Aussie Eagle re: the Eagles signing all of these players to one-year deals
  • Weaver is definitely the best acquisition so far this offseason
  • Eagles President Joe Banner talked with WIP’s Howard Eskin
  • Brian Dawkins’ leadership role in Denver
  • Rumor prospects: Anquan Boldin and Braylon Edwards
  • Thanks to Todd, we get into a Donovan McNabb talk again

Free Agency has started, and so far the Eagles have lost an enormous amount more than they have gained... at least that is the way it appears to Eagles fans. Losing both Brian Dawkins and Correll Buckhalter, as well as the eventual loss of Jon Runyan due to Stacy Andrews' signing, has left fans with a very bad taste in our mouths.  It's painful to see 13-year veteran Dawkins go to another team, despite knowing what a ridiculously-sweet deal they gave him.  Plus we have seen so many other teams be very aggressive in free agency, including division rival New York Giants, and seemingly get better in the process. We're left wondering what plans the Eagles organization has, and how they plan to fill the many holes that this team now has.

What we discussed:

  • Free agency has started
  • We lost Dawkins, Buckhalter, Considine and soon LJ Smith and Tra Thomas
  • Lito Sheppard was traded
  • Brian Dawkins received an offer from Denver that the Eagles wouldn't even think about offering him
  • The new NFL is all about business, and fans' attachments to players hurts when they are inevitably traded or released
  • TJ Houshmandzadeh apparently asked for more money from the Eagles than other teams
  • Dennis from Gettysburg asks us about Boldin and Gonzales
  • Eagles sign Stacy Andrews, who does have a knee injury concern
  • Eagles rumors have involved a ton of wide receivers, but we have signed none
  • What is the Eagles plan?
  • The waiting game is tough

The offseason is here, and so are we:

We are a couple of weeks past the Philadelphia Eagles loss to the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship, and the Super Bowl is over.  The offseason has begun, and hype has already started.  Nothing major has happened yet, but Bengals free agent wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh has been making the rounds marketing himself. He was interviewed by 950 ESPN’s Mike Missanelli on Wednesday, where T.J. told how he would like to catch for McNabb, admires Andy Reid’s playcalling, and says Eagles fans are too critical.  We have all that, plus touch on our offseason needs, some more disappointment in how the season ended and more great emails from listeners.

What we discussed:

  • Three players added to the roster: DT Amon Gordon, LB Charleston Hughes and S Byron Parker
  • Eagles QB Coach Pat Shurmer leaves, and there are other minor coaching moves
  • Super Bowl talk - plain and simple, the Steelers had a lot of time left on the clock, because of their QB
  • We touch a bit, again, on McNabb as a clutch quarterback
  • Email from Aussie Mike
  • Email from Ben in Chicago
  • Defense talk as well as champion quarterbacks
  • 950 ESPN radio’s Mike Missanelli interviewed Bengals wide receiver, and free agent, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who talks about wanting to play in Philadelphia. Here is the link for the full interview.
  • Mike and his crew also created a Facebook group called “We Want T.J.!”  The direct link is here if you want to join.
  • Our needs that need to be addressed this offseason are at the Offensive Line, tailback, tackle, safety and fullback
  • Email from Mitch comparing the the disappointments of the four NFC Championship losses on his blog
  • Email from Vince in West Philly
  • A listener, Holden, created a group on Facebook called “Displaced Philadelphia Eagles Fans Unite”.  Search for it in Facebook, or just use this direct link and join up.  Great job, Holden!
  • You can also find the EaglesFanCast Facebook fan page by searching there or clicking on this link

The Philadelphia Eagles come up short in a big way and lose to the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship.  After a dismal first half where the Cardinals put up 24 points to the Eagles six, they fight back, scoring 19 unanswered points in the second half and actually take the lead in the fourth quarter.  Unfortunately that appeared to be all that was left in the tank, and Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner led his team down the field and scored a touchdown and added a two-point conversion to lead 32-25 with just under three minutes to go.  The Eagles Offense sputtered and died on the Cardinals side of the field, as well as their chances at another Super Bowl shot.

What we discussed:

  • Eagles lose the NFC Championship game, and are now 1-4 in that game under Andy Reid
  • Chuck calls for Reid to leave
  • Eric calls out Donovan McNabb and Brian Dawkins for having horrendous games

  • Todd, like all of us, is heartbroken, calls McNabb a great player, but he’s not a champion
  • All aspects of the team were flat in the first half
  • Kicker David Akers was off with a missed field goal, missed extra point and a kickoff out of bounds
  • The Defense tackling game was one of the worst we have seen this season
  • Email from Alex (first of two halves from Alex)
  • Email from Hollis
  • Thanks to Aussie Mike for the AFL official football he sent us!
  • Thanks to Nidice for letting us use his song, Eagles Game Face ‘08 last week
  • Email from Dennis
  • Email from Philip
  • Email from Aussie Steve

Eric and Chuck were interviewed by Rebecca Roberts from NPR at McGillin’s Olde Ale House in Center City Philadelphia.  It aired this past Saturday evening on the show All Things Considered.  You can hear it at this link.  On the right side, scroll down to “Sports - Eagles Fan Explains Reputation for Pessimism”.

The Philadelphia Eagles defeat the Minnesota Vikings in the opening weekend of the playoffs, 26-14. Our Eagles traveled to the Metrodome for the NFC Wild Card game on Sunday and handled Adrian Peterson, the Vikings Defense, and the very loud dome fans, emerging victorious. Next up, the Eagles head up the New Jersey Turnpike this Sunday to face their NFC East Division rivals, and defending Super Bowl Champions, New York Giants. We lay it all out there with how the surging Eagles team needs to handle the struggling Giants at the Meadowlands in front of another hostile crowd. Besides the team, we also hit on golf trips, playoff beards, and more Aussie enthusiasm.

What we discussed:

  • Eagles take out the Minnesota Vikings with the help of the whole team
  • How all three of us watched the game, and how we felt during it
  • We talk about L. J. Smith and Brent Celek
  • Eric talks about his trip to Myrtle Beach and he left us a few voicemails
  • Email from Travis in Denver talking Eagles excitement and how he can’t stand Fox Sports’ Joe Buck
  • We talk about the iconic Merrill Reese
  • The coverage on the Eagles for the Giants game is starting to ramp up, and there’s a lot of talk comparing them to last year’s Giants team
  • Our plans for watching the game this Sunday
  • The Giants have been struggling and we discuss the why’s
  • Email from Dennis in Gettysburg, PA who isn’t as sure about this Giants game as he was for the Vikings
  • The Eagles have to control the ball and keep the Giants Offense off the field
  • Email from Stephen in Australia, renamed AussieSteve!

Playoff enthusiasm and cheers can be deposited here:
