The Philadelphia Eagles had a big week, winning their sixth straight game by defeating the Denver Broncos in Philly, welcoming back Brian Dawkins and Correll Buckhalter, and seeing six of their players make it to the Pro Bowl. But what is bigger than this week is what they have coming up next… the Dallas Cowboys, the NFC East, and a first-round BYE in the playoffs. We do our best to break it all down from the fans’ point of view, and hear from other fans in the process as the 2009 NFL regular season comes to a close in the Eagles biggest game of the season. Hold on tight, everyone, our playoffs start this week in Dallas! What we discussed:

Our Philadelphia Eagles win their fifth straight game against the San Francisco 49ers at home in snowy Lincoln Financial Field. Amid some hiccups during the game, the team pulled itself together, and locked their playoff spot, leaving only two games to play in the regular season against Denver next week and finishing the season in Dallas. The Philadelphia Eagles travel up the New Jersey Turnpike for their last regular season game at Giants Stadium, and in an epic Eagles-Giants battle, win 45-38. Not only do the Eagles sweep the Giants this year, but with the Dallas Cowboys loss earlier in the day, the Eagles wind up alone in first place in the NFC East. All aspects of the team contributed to the victory, and the team showed an enormous amount of character in the face of a tough Giants Offense. Our confidence builds as the regular season approaches the last few weeks, and we can start to see the playoffs in our sights. What we discussed:

The Philadelphia Eagles roll into Atlanta and destroy a depleted Falcons team with the help of none other than Michael Vick, who scored his first two touchdowns of the season with the win. The Eagles also move into a tie for first place in the division after the New York Giants defeat the Dallas Cowboys. The Eagles do not have time to reflect as they will be driving up the New Jersey Turnpike this Sunday where they will take on the Giants for another extremely important game. We talk about all of this, handle a few emails and talk about where this Eagles team is at this point in the season.

The Philadelphia Eagles post a second come from behind win in as many weeks, defeating the Washington Redskins at home. This places the Eagles with a 7-4 record, and hot in the race for the Wild Card. Although we see flaws with the team and have serious concerns, we explore the possibility of this team gelling and surging into the playoffs. Now what happens when they get there is another story, but anything can happen with this NFL it seems. What we discussed:

A wild week for us as we had to bail on the Tuesday night recording, then tonight didn’t get any better as both Eric and Todd were not able to make it last second. Good thing is, I had Luis from Green Fans – The Movie scheduled to come on, and we were able to talk at length about his movie and all kinds of Eagles topics. What we discussed:

Chuck takes a vacation break, and we’re back after two weeks, and an unfortunate two Eagles losses to the Dallas Cowboys and the San Diego Chargers. The Philadelphia Eagles bounce back from two disappointing showings to trounce the New York Giants 40-17 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The Eagles jumped out early, executed a very effective Offense, harassed the Giants weapons, and never looked back as they soared to the top of the NFC East. We break down what we saw, and listen to other fans talk in emails and a voicemail. What we discussed:

The Philadelphia Eagles come off a win against the Washington ForeRedskins 27-17 on Monday Night Football, and we couldn’t be more… apathetic. The Eagles Offense was disappointing, and the team did not play up to the caliber that we expected after the embarrassing loss to the Raiders last week. What makes matters worse is RB Brian Westbrook went down with a concussion and might miss the next game. Donovan McNabb was off again, the wildcat has mange, and the Eagles next play NFC East Division rivals, the New York Giants. If coach Andy Reid does not fix what is wrong, and quick, then the remainder of the 2009 season is going to be a very long one. What we discussed:

The Philadelphia Eagles lose to the horrible Oakland Raiders in a game that pretty much everyone thought was a lock for a Win. Almost every aspect of the team contributed to the embarrassment, from coaching, playcalling, tackling, passing, blocking and kicking. We try to express some of what transpired since the game, what went wrong, and our concerns for the future. Joining us this week is Cody Benjamin, from the Eagles fan blog, Bleed Green. The Philadelphia Eagles take apart the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 33-14 in Philadelphia this week. Quarterback Donovan McNabb returns from his rib injury, Jeremiah Trotter returns to the team, and Jeremy Maclin has a phenomenal game playing for the injured Kevin Curtis. The win wasn’t without some negativity, but the Offense put together a solid game and helped Head Coach Andy Reid move to 11-0 after the BYE week. What we discussed:
We tried something new this week, as we incorporated a live chat during the show recording. We wanted to get a live chat going so people could interact and participate while we record. Then we realized that it would make more sense if you could hear what we were talking about. So we configured a channel over at ustream. We tested it out, and it was a success, and we had a bunch of people in the chat room checking out the scene and we only let people know a few minutes beforehand! Awesome time, thanks to everyone who came and visited. We’ll be doing this each week when we record from now on since the live feedback was all positive. Tue, 29 September 2009
The Philadelphia Eagles put together another impressive Offensive effort in beating the Kansas City Chiefs 34-14. Granted it was the Chiefs, but we were able to see a confident Kevin Kolb come out and run the Offense and effectively move the ball and make very few mistakes. It also marked the return of Michael Vick to the NFL where his role this week was more of a decoy than the much-hyped wildcat offense has led us to expect. Also big news today was the signing of former Eagle linebacker Jeremiah Trotter, who left the team, lobbied to come back, then was cut in 2007. This Eagles organization is anything but boring since the Summer. What we discussed:

This week’s Philadelphia Eagles game was a big one. It was quarterback Kevin Kolb’s debut as a starter, filling in for the injured Donovan McNabb. It was the home opener. It was against a very tough NFC opponent in the New Orleans Saints. Well the Eagles rebounded off a great performance against the Panthers last week, and underachieved, made mistakes, and took themselves out of a game. We chat about how Kolb looked out there, what went wrong with the team to lose in such an embarrassing way, the wildcat offense, and field some emails from listeners that have concerns. The Philadelphia Eagles crush the Carolina Panthers 38-10 in a bittersweet win as we also lose our quarterback Donovan McNabb to a broken rib on a late touchdown run. The Eagles make a lot of moves with some familiar names in the last day in response to McNabb’s injury. Jeff Garcia returns to the Birds, Michael Vick is activated so he can start practicing, and to make room, Guard Shawn Andrews is placed on the IR and Wide Receiver Hank Baskett is cut. An overwhelming news day, and we bring it all to you in typical Green style. What we discussed:

The Eagles win their first preseason game, and Michael Vick debuts in Eagles green on the field. Most fans at The Linc give him a standing ovation as he trotted out on the field and the stage is set for a very interesting season. It’s tough to watch and talk about the preseason games, because you don’t know what will make it to the regular season, from players, to strategy, to expectations. Most of this week’s show focuses on Quarterbacks and Defense. What we talked about:

A slight divergence from the normal EaglesFanCast podcast you all have come to expect. Hope you don’t mind!
We had the opportunity to have a chat with Robert Siegel, the Writer and Director of the new movie Big Fan, which will be hitting theaters in limited release only in New York and Philadelphia on Friday, August 29th. In Philadelphia it will be playing at the Landmark Ritz at the Bourse, definitely go see it. Check the movie website for more cities and release dates. Eric and I had a good time talking with Robert and learned more about this drama, his take on the characters, and how a New York sports bar was transformed into a Philly sports bar. Listen in, and if you go to see it, please let us know what you think! Find out more about Big Fan at the movie’s official website. We will be back again next week and talk about Michael Vick’s game debut for the Eagles after he plays in the preseason Jacksonville Jaguars game in Philly. Since he and Donovan McNabb are slated to play the first three quarters, we won’t have to wait for the regular season to find out how Coach Andy Reid plans to utilize Vick’s talents in our Offense. So the Philadelphia Eagles sign veteran quarterback and convicted felon Michael Vick last week. The news rips into fans in a huge way, making national news, segmenting the loyal fanbase, and pushing all of the emotions of fans and non-fans of the Eagles and the NFL in general. We've taken a few months off, and it was a slow Eagles news time anyway, but we are back.
Unfortunately, we record this episode with heavy hearts, as long-time Eagles Defensive Coordinator, Jim Johnson, passed away today. He had been battling cancer for a while, and was 68. We will never forget what he did for the players, coaches and fans of this organization, and we wish his family all the best during this very hard time. The Philadelphia Eagles website has an amazing tribute to the best Defensive Coordinator the organization, and perhaps the NFL, has ever had. What we talked about:
One last thing, web aficionado and all-around good guy, Drew Olanoff, was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago. Not one to sit back and do nothing, he turned his passion for life and the web on the cancer itself. If you are on twitter, chances are you have seen people blame Drew's cancer for many things in their own lives. Drew's created the "Blame Drew's Cancer" movement where he has partnered with Livestrong, and hopes to get sponsors to donate a dollar for every time someone blames Drew's cancer for something. If you're on twitter, go ahead. Wow the Philadelphia Eagles offseason seems long this year, doesn’t it? A bunch of heartfelt losses and nothing exciting on the signing front (with no offense meant to Stacy Andrews or the others). The Eagles did sign fullback Leonard Weaver, which fills a big hole on Offense and definitely helps the running game on a few levels. Other than that it’s been rumors, speculation and a few low-impact signings. This show, our friend Jason from Bleeding Green Nation stops in to chat with us about what’s been going on with the Eagles for the last few weeks. We also hit on various players and address a few rumors about some big profile players. What we discussed:

Wed, 4 March 2009
Free Agency has started, and so far the Eagles have lost an enormous amount more than they have gained... at least that is the way it appears to Eagles fans. Losing both Brian Dawkins and Correll Buckhalter, as well as the eventual loss of Jon Runyan due to Stacy Andrews' signing, has left fans with a very bad taste in our mouths. It's painful to see 13-year veteran Dawkins go to another team, despite knowing what a ridiculously-sweet deal they gave him. Plus we have seen so many other teams be very aggressive in free agency, including division rival New York Giants, and seemingly get better in the process. We're left wondering what plans the Eagles organization has, and how they plan to fill the many holes that this team now has. What we discussed:

We are a couple of weeks past the Philadelphia Eagles loss to the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship, and the Super Bowl is over. The offseason has begun, and hype has already started. Nothing major has happened yet, but Bengals free agent wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh has been making the rounds marketing himself. He was interviewed by 950 ESPN’s Mike Missanelli on Wednesday, where T.J. told how he would like to catch for McNabb, admires Andy Reid’s playcalling, and says Eagles fans are too critical. We have all that, plus touch on our offseason needs, some more disappointment in how the season ended and more great emails from listeners. What we discussed:

Thu, 22 January 2009
The Philadelphia Eagles come up short in a big way and lose to the
Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship. After a dismal first half
where the Cardinals put up 24 points to the Eagles six, they fight
back, scoring 19 unanswered points in the second half and actually take
the lead in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately that appeared to be all
that was left in the tank, and Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner led
his team down the field and scored a touchdown and added a two-point
conversion to lead 32-25 with just under three minutes to go. The
Eagles Offense sputtered and died on the Cardinals side of the field,
as well as their chances at another Super Bowl shot.

up, the Eagles head up the New Jersey Turnpike this Sunday to face
their NFC East Division rivals, and defending Super Bowl Champions, New
