Well the Philadelphia Eagles season was ended in embarrassing fashion with the Washington Redskins crushing the Birds in Philly, racking up yet another loss at home.

But what overshadows this loss, and the loss of the season, is that the Eagles organization, namely Jeffrey Lurie, fired head coach Chip Kelly today unexpectedly.  We, along with Eagles guru Tommy Lawlor, discuss the why’s, how Kelly lost the will of some players, and the rest of the circumstances surrounding this untimely development.

Fans so far on social media seem to be overwhelmingly for this move by the team, with not much sympathy for Chip.  We of course start the speculation, with Todd thinking Jon Gruden returns to Philadelphia, and Tommy is interested in the Saints’ Sean Peyton.  Many names are eventually mentioned, and you can catch them all on the audio!  Chuck’s pick is Tommy, so let’s #HireTommy.

Oh yeah, there is one final game in the 2015 NFL season.  The Eagles play the New York Giants in a meaningless game.  The temporary head coach for that game is Pat Shurmur.

It is never boring being an Eagles fan, is it?  It may be painful at times, disappointing at others, and exciting as well, but it is never, ever boring being an Eagles fan.

The New England Patriots, only one loss on the 2015 season.  The Philadelphia Eagles, seven losses on the season, three of which in just the last three weeks.  The Patriots lost last week, and haven’t lost two straight games in forever.  The game’s stage is at Gillette Stadium.  No one expected the Eagles to win this game.  No analysts, the game’s announcers, and even most Eagles fans.

How could we?  After the display the Eagles performed the last three weeks especially, and with Sam Bradford coming off an injury.  The Eagles Defense, allowing 110 points in the last three losses going against a Tom Brady who has something to prove this season and has been remarkable for most of it.

But the Eagles dug down deep.  Very deep.  They executed.  They put pressure on Brady.  Our Offense ran it down the Pats’ throats, but with different guys.  Chip Kelly adjusted for this game, and had a plan.  It took Defense and a ridiculous Special Teams to beat the Patriots this week, and thanks to losses by the Giants and Redskins… into a 3-way tie for the sad NFC East.  Come on, with a 100-yard pick-6, a punt return for a touchdown, AND a blocked punt for a touchdown… ALL IN THE SAME GAME!  It was an amazing game to watch, and gave Eagles fans something huge to cheer for.  This season is not over yet, and there is plenty of football to play, and yes, cheer for.

So the Philadelphia Eagles have lost three straight games, are now 4-7 on the season, and yet, somehow, are only a single game out of first in the NFC East.  Don’t count them out just yet!!  Yes, I’m laughing while I typed this. Things have gone from bad to worse for this Birds organization, and with the Defense giving up five passing touchdowns in each of the last two games to the Lions  (with quarterback Matt Stafford) and Buccaneers (QB Jameis Winston) has taken away much of the hope for a recovery on this season.  Backup quarterback Mark Sanchez has not done well at all, and even shut the voices of the Sam Bradford haters.  Right now it’s all doom and gloom for Eagles fans, as we cannot believe what we are seeing.  The rumors of Chip Kelly entertaining the idea of going back to college have started huge again, even prompting the Eagles head coach and General Manager to publicly address it… something he really shouldn’t have to.

The irony in all of this is that the Eagles are not out of the playoff picture, even with this record, and starting December!  The NFC East, the worst division in the NFL, has a tie for first between the Giants and Redskins, with a record of 5-6.  The Cowboys are pretty much officially done now that Romo is out for the rest of the season, the Giants can’t get a consistent act going, and the Redskins are still headed by Dan Snyder… enough said.

It doesn’t get easier now, as the Eagles face the Patriots on Sunday in New England.  Winter is coming.  The Eagles better bundle up.

Our Philadelphia Eagles go into AT&T Stadium down in Dallas for a Sunday Night football game against the Cowboys.  The first half is not that fun to watch with neither team able to settle and play good football, and the first half ends in a 7-7 tie.  The second half turns into a battle, with each team scoring 20 points, eventually pushing into overtime.  The Birds get the ball to start OT and drive down the field.  Sam Bradford connected with Jordan Matthews for a 41 yard reception for a touchdown and the win!

Many things looked better for our Offense this week, with Sam Bradford looking more confident, less dropped passes, good yards after the catch, and much improvement in the running game.  First downs helped keep the Cowboys Defense on the field, and eventually tiring them down. They are building into the Eagles Offense we expected, and will need the rest of the season to dig out of the hole they are in.

This week the Eagles come home and the Dolphins step into the Linc Sunday.  Miami is also struggling, and other than the Patriots, they are also fighting for something in their Division. We all know what the NFC East looks like right now, and the Eagles scored some serious confidence this past week, and can take it forward into this week and build upon it.

The Philadelphia Eagles were off this week, and for our BYE Week show, we have a reunion of sorts with the hosts of the podcast formerly known as Philly Sportscast!  Dave, Derek, and E-money join us to talk about the state of the Eagles at the BYE, where we think the team will do the rest of the season, the mentality of the Eagles fan, and what this team has to do moving forward.

Sam Bradford, Chip Kelly, McNabb, Mark Sanchez, Andy Reid, and DeMarco Murray were all hot topics in this disjointed and frequently loud conversation among Eagles fans.  One thing we all agree on is that this week in Dallas is the whole season for the Eagles, as the team cannot afford to lose another NFC East game.  We also give our predictions, talk about New Jersey, Bucks County PA, and hear a story about L.A.

One last thing, Dallas sucks, and the Eagles win.

The Philadelphia Eagles lose to the undefeated Carolina Panthers down in Carolina 27-16. With the Giants winning over the Cowboys the Giants move into first place, and the Eagles have to sit with this loss for the next two weeks, as this coming week is a much-needed BYE.  Quarterback Sam Bradford had a better day and looked more confident, but this week’s Offensive woes came with the dropped passes, seven of them.  It was a horribly-played game for our receivers, and that seemed to be the main reason this game was lost.

The Eagles Defense grabbed three interceptions from Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, and had pressure for most of the day. But the Eagles Offense just struggled, made mistakes, could not get separation, and dropped passes. Running back Ryan Matthews was one of the standouts on the day, rushing for 97 yards, 63 of which was a long touchdown run.  DeMarco Murray added on another 65 yards in the game.

Chip Kelly, Eagles receivers, DeMarco Murray, and Sam Bradford are still under fire for under-performing.  Well they have two weeks to think about things as this coming week is the BYE, then we have the Dallas Cowboys.  Tommy Lawlor joins us to chat about where the season is, where the personnel are, and what we can expect, or hope to expect.

The biggest game of the 2015 Eagles season was in Philadelphia on Monday Night Football against the New York Giants, a battle for first place in the NFC East Division.  A loss could have meant the basic end to the season, but a win puts the Birds in a tie for first.  Your Philadelphia Eagles beat the Giants 27-7 after initially being down 7-0 in the first quarter.

The Eagles Defense was unbelievable in their dominance of the Giants after giving up an 80-yard drive and touchdown.  The Giants second drive was looking the same until DeMeco Ryans intercepted the ball.  The Eagles Offense put together a drive and tied it up.  From that point forward, the Eagles either kept the Giants Offense in check, or completely dominated them.

Overall it was an ugly game, with the Eagles turning the ball over four times, and the Eagles Defense getting three turnovers from the Giants (with a pick-six in there from Nolan Carroll), and there were countless penalties on both sides.  Three of the Eagles turnovers came from Sam Bradford interceptions.  His inconsistent play (also having 280 yards passing and a touchdown) has been a reason for anxiety among many fans, some of which are calling for his benching. But is Mark Sanchez the answer?  Highly doubtful, and it’s one of the things we talk about in this episode.

But right now, the Eagles are leading the division, and go to Carolina to play the undefeated Panthers, which will be yet another huge test of what this team is.

The New Orleans Saints come to Philadelphia, also struggling in their season, and get spanked by the Eagles 39-17. Quarterback Sam Bradford started out in a  negative way, despite driving down the field, throws two interceptions in the red zone, causing much anxiety for Eagles fans everywhere. But things turn around, the Eagles Defense does their job, and then Bradford and the rest of the Offense clicks and does theirs.  The second half the Eagles outscore Drew Brees and the Saints 29-10, and put worries to bed for the week.

The next game on the schedule? The New York Giants come to Lincoln Financial Field for Monday Night Football for first place in the NFC East. This game is huge, and the Eagles need to take the momentum from the Saints win and take the Giants apart.

We discuss the Chip Kelly rumors of going to USC for more money and the opportunity he may have going back to college.

Happy Birthday to Brian Dawkins!

So here we go setting the stage.  The Philadelphia Eagles are struggling to start the season, already losing a division game, then get a win.  This week they go to play the Washington Redskins, another NFC East team that is struggling.  The Eagles need to win this game, come together as a team, and set the stage for the rest of the season and prove to themselves who they are.

Well that didn’t happen, and we saw more of the same from the team. We saw more mistakes, more dropped passes, more costly penalties and more lack of focus.  It wasn’t all bad, and we saw glimmers of great plays on all sides of the ball.  And that is what gives us just the smallest amount of hope for salvaging this season.

This week the New Orleans Saints come to town with Drew Brees possibly set to take apart the Eagles secondary.  They are also coming off of a win this week after their own horrible start to the season.  This is yet another opportunity for the Eagles to start down a different path this season than they started on.  We’re still discouraged, but maybe things can change.

Eagles fans are angry, though, and some are calling for Chip Kelly’s termination already.  They are hopeless at this point.  Hopefully those fans are wrong, and Chip can pull this team out of the funk that it is in.  I don’t want the organization to start with yet another coach.  Not now.

The New York Jets hosted the Philadelphia Eagles in north Jersey, and the Defense did indeed win the game.  But not the Defense that everyone was predicting. Our Eagles Defense grabbed four turnovers and kept the Jets Offense stumbling at times, not able to accomplish much.

The Eagles Offense, on the other hand, were more effective and were more of a cohesive unit, despite DeMarco Murray being out with an injury.  Quarterback Sam Bradford looked more confident, but still struggled with accuracy.  But more of a concern was the dropped passes, at least one to two of them could have been converted into touchdowns.

Darren Sproles was another bright spot, running back a punt for a touchdown in very exciting fashion.  He’s just so damn good.

This week the Eagles take on the NFC East Division rival Washington Redskins, who, by nature, struggle.  This could be a win that gives the Eagles even more confidence moving forward, and allows them to continue to gel.  They need to get it done.

The Philadelphia Eagles lost the home opener to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.  The Eagles were less than ineffective in the game, and it was unbelievable to watch.  Our Defense were able to hold the Cowboys most of the game, but the Eagles Offense could not do anything.  There was no run threat, there was no passing that could be used to get anything moving forward.  The Eagles even had a punt blocked and returned for a touchdown.

Bottom line is, nothing went right in this game.  We heard from several people this week and there was anger, depression, but everyone blamed Chip Kelly and his approach to this team.

Should we as fans hit the real panic button yet?  We’re not sure, but right now things do not look good.  They have dug themselves a big hole, and the rest of this season is not going to be easy, at all.  Our next game is on the road against a now-tough New York Jets team.  This will not be easy.

So the first game of the 2015 NFL season did not go as planned for the Philadelphia Eagles.  The first half of the game, it seemed no one was ready to play real football.  The Atlanta Falcons went into the lockerroom at halftime with a 20-3 lead.  Our quarterback Sam Bradford was not good, our receivers could not get any separation, our running game was lackluster, and on the defensive side of the ball, the Falcons were doing just about anything they wanted.  On top of it, the veterans were committing penalties, and the entire team just looked out of synch.  The second half was a different story, for some aspects.  The Defense tightened up, well most of it, our cornerback Byron Maxwell struggled to cover Julio Jones the entire game. But Sam Bradford helped turn the Offense around, they ran better, they got first downs, the receivers got separation, and the Eagles even took the lead at one point.  But ultimately mistakes did the Birds in on the first game of the year.  A missed field goal by Cody Parkey, some costly penalties, and not catching very catch-able balls cost the Eagles a game.

This week is our first home game of the season, and none other than NFC East Division rival Dallas Cowboys are coming in.  With the Cowboys beating the Giants in Week 1, the Eagles need to take back the division, and prove that they are the team we believe they are.

The preseason ends, and the 2015 NFL regular season is about to begin. The Philadelphia Eagles are a very different team than the 10-6 Eagles of last year.  Chip Kelly has made massive, controversial, and unforgettable moves in this offseason that has divided fans at times, made believers of others, and has essentially redefined how to manage and run an NFL organization.

Now we are just days away from the start of four months of Eagles football that may forever define Kelly’s role in the NFL.  We get to see his plan in action, and what he has built. All of the predictions and analyses do not mean anything, because no one has seen something like this before.

We are ready for one hell of a ride.  Are you?  What do you think?  We want to hear from you.  It’s time for Eagles football.  It’s time to bleed green.  It’s time for a new Eagles team, and one amazing experience.

The Philadelphia Eagles played their third preseason game, the first on the road, against the Green Bay Packers.  The Birds lay down 39 points in the first half alone.  On top of that, quarterback Sam Bradford played a perfect game.  We reiterate… perfect.  He threw no incompletions, going 10 for 10 for 121 yards, and three touchdowns, in the first seven minutes of the game.  Bradford’s accuracy was great, and he had the finesse and confidence that every team wants as their starter.

It’s hard not to get excited at this point about what we are seeing in our QB, his weapons, the much-improved Defense, and even the continued success of special teams.

The last preseason game is on the road against the New York Jets up in northern New Jersey.  We will not see many of the high-caliber starters, but we will get to see the depth players fighting to make the team. The 53-man roster deadline is fast approaching, and I don’t envy the Eagles coaches with making those decisions as to what players have to go.

The second preseason game is in the books, and so is another 40 points from the Eagles!  It wasn’t just the high score that has us kind of excited, but also that our new quarterback Sam Bradford looked good, and took a few hits and felt good about it.  On top of it, our new running back, DeMarco Murray, also did well, running strong, and scoring a touchdown against a Baltimore Ravens Defense that looked almost lazy.  What else?  Oh maybe that our new wide receiver Nelson Agholor continues to impress, and we also ran back a punt for a touchdown (Kenjon Barner’s second in two games), and of course a couple of interceptions of Joe Flacco by safety Walter Thurmond and cornerback Byron Maxwell also gives a warm feeling in the stomach.

On top of everything else, Mychal Kendricks, our outstanding linebacker, just signed a long-term deal with the Eagles today.  Along with fellow linebacker Kiko Alonso coming back from his injury soon, possibly this week, we should all be excited.

Things look good right now, and the excitement continues to build to a 2015 Philadelphia Eagles season with Chip Kelly’s plan starting to take shape for all of us.  We will see more this week when the Eagles travel to play the Green Bay Packers.

The next phase of the 2015 Philadelphia Eagles has started with the first Preseason game in the books, with the Eagles beating the Indianapolis Colts on a very hot Summer day in South Philly.  Eagles fans were finally able to see, well, most of what coach Chip Kelly has built in this sometimes chaotic, and certainly newsworthy offseason.  Although new Eagles Sam Bradford and DeMarco Murray did not play, we were able to see a rebuilt Defense, and much-changed Offense take the field at The Linc for the first time. One of the most talked about positions has been at quarterback… not the starter, but the battle for the third spot.  Yeah, it’s been that kind of offseason.  Eagles veteran Matt Barkley and newcomer, well for the Eagles, anyway, Tim Tebow both played to an excited crowd.

We talk about that excitement, and a few observations in this first of four-game preseason, as well as Sam Bradford’s expected debut in next week’s game.

Football is back, Eagles Fans, and with so many unexpected changes and drastic moves and losses, we are finally starting to see the beginnings of a plan.  Let’s be optimistic, and let’s demand the best this team can muster.

Like so many of our years before, we are joined by the one and only Tommy Lawlor this week for his amazing analysis of the Eagles needs and fits in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Only a few days until the Draft kicks off Thursday night, and only a small handful of people inside the Philadelphia Eagles organization know what they have planned.  The Eagles fans, analysts, and Draft geeks can only speculate what this unpredictable organization will do by the end of the upcoming weekend.  Chip Kelly has surprised and wowed many for the past few months, leading some to speculate he is a genius and others to proclaim him insane.  Either way it has been entertaining, and the excitement leads right up to this particular Draft, which some Eagles media has been talking about since the middle of the 2014 season, because of one player, Marcus Mariota.

We discuss Mariota and what he would bring to the team, and what the Eagles would have to give up to get him.   From there we move on and Tommy opens the floodgates of his college football player knowledge past and present.  We go position by position on both Offense and Defense and talk about the needs, wants, and who the Eagles might pick up, and when.

Players like TJ Clemmings, Jake Fisher, or Brandon Sherff could be the Eagles newest Offensive Lineman.  We talked about the Cornerback and Safety needs, and players Quentin Rollins, Eric Rowe, Adrian Amos, Damarious Randall, and Byron Jones are all those that could fit Eagles needs.

No one has it figured out yet, but we have a feeling it’s going to be an exciting night for Eagles fans as we welcome the newest to wear midnight green.

We are joined tonight by our original team member, Eric Grigg!  We start the discussions with the latest entry into the Eagles quarterback pool, arguably  controversial, Tim Tebow.  It surprised a lot of Eagles fans considering coach Chip Kelly’s other moves at the position this offseason.  With five quarterbacks right now, it’s going to be an interesting offseason, especially with the NFL Draft only a couple weeks away.

But next, just tonight the NFL 2015 schedule was released, and we break down our feelings on the season, and speculate how the season will go.  If we have the caliber team we did in 2014, it will be a great year (and it is a huge IF at this point), and many eyes will be on the Eagles, as we have a lot of primetime games to play.

We are ready for 2015!  Let’s go Eagles!!

When the Philadelphia Eagles season ended, there were few doubts as to what the Eagles organization had to do to move into the 2015 season a better team.  Backup quarterback Mark Sanchez would be relegated to backup duties, if another QB wasn’t signed in the off-season, and plug several holes on the Defense, namely cornerback and safety.

But entering January, coach Chip Kelly became General Manager Chip Kelly, and Howie Roseman became the numbers guy for the organization, with all player personnel final decisions falling to Chip.  Then, March happened.  In a matter of days leading up to free agency, which officially kicked off the afternoon of March 10th, the Eagles team is practically unrecognizable from a player perspective.

At the end of February, the Eagles released TE James Casey and somewhat surprisingly, guard Todd Herremens, and the next week signed linebacker Brad Jones.  Rather standard so far.  The next day, fan favorite Trent Cole was cut, another salary cap release, along with cornerback Cary Williams.

Then things get, um, weird.

It is then reported that the Eagles will trade star running back LeSean (Shady) McCoy to the Buffalo Bills for ILB Kiko Alonso, who is coming off a serious injury.  This is a week before free agency officially starts, mind you.

Two days before free agency, quarterback Mark Sanchez is re-signed, to a two-year deal.  Now, free agent starting wide receiver Jeremy Maclin still has not been paid, and fans are wondering what is going on.  We find out quickly as the Chiefs announce they agree to terms with Maclin, and he will be reunited with former Eagles head coach Andy Reid.  But on the somewhat positive side, Frank Gore has reportedly agreed to sign with the Eagles.  So the running game has been more solidified with the loss of McCoy.

The day before free agency, the Eagles re-sign Brandon Graham, and things are good.  Then Gore backs out, and instead signs with the Colts.  Now Eagles fans question EVERYTHING about what is going on, many panic, and many break ankles jumping off the Chipwagon.

Finally the day comes, free agency, March 10th.  Some things will be answered.  But wait!  The Eagles trade starting quarterback Nick Foles to the Rams for injured QB Sam Bradford!!  Many a “WTF” was seen on Twitter.  Rumors fly rampant in many directions, and no one seems to know what is going on.

Then the Eagles add CB Walter Thurmond, CB Byron Maxwell, and RB Ryan Matthews is coming to town with the intention of signing.  Busy as hell, and all good additions!

Then comes March 12th, today, and things still aren’t done!  The Eagles not only sign Thurmond, but also Dallas Cowboys running back, the 2014 yards league-leading DeMarco Murray, comes to town and signs a lucrative contract!!  As Murray’s car is tailed by media helicopters from the Philly airport to Eagles HQ, it gets reported that the Eagles are shopping around standout guard Evan Mathis!

Mayhem, absolute mayhem as an Eagles fan.  We don’t feel this is over yet, and we cover some of this on this episode of EaglesFanCast!
